ITINERARY UPDATE Cpl. David C. Armstrong - ZANESVILLE, OHIO

STAGING POINT: Cornerstone Gospel Church 4509 Salt Creek Drive Duncan Falls, Ohio (10 mi South Of Zanesville) (directions below)

Park behind Sanctuary & below Barrack Youth Center,Park in a North South line at edge of parking lot to facilitate our exit for the cemetery.

STAGING TIME: 10:45
FLAGS UP: 11:15
Casket Arrives: 11:30
Funeral Service 13:00
Break Down: 13:10

Move to Zanesville for interment.  A coffee break will ensue.

Interment will be at: Zanesville Memorial Gardens 1475 Military Road Zanesville, Ohio

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO CORNERSTONE GOSPEL CHURCH:
Duncan Falls, Ohio is on State Route 60 approximately 9 miles south of I-70 @ State Route 60.

FROM ZANESVILLE: Exit I-70 at SR-60 (may be labeled Underwood), take SR-60 south and continue on SR-60 until you reach Duncan Falls. Street names in Duncan Falls are POORLY MARKED, so turn LEFT at the BP Station.  That will be MILL St. Proceed east on MILL Street until the Cornerstone Gospel Church (BIG CHURCH) is visible up the hill and on the left side of the road.  Go on UP the hill until you encounter the Church’s entrance to the left.  Park BEHIND the sanctuary and below the Barrack Youth Center.  Park in a line next to where the grass WOULD BE if it wasn’t snow covered.  Parking that way will allow us to get out before the services have ended.

FROM MARIETTA: North on I- 77 to State Route 60. SR 60 north until you reach Duncan Falls. Once again, streets are poorly marked.  Turn right onto MILL St. at the BP station (Mill Street is not marked with a street sign).

SAFETY FIRST: In this weather even though the sun may be shining through, temperatures can and will be, brutal.  MAKE SURE that you dress warmly, have good boots and good gloves.  This would be a good day to wear two pairs of sox!  Do not stand on the Flag line too long without a break.  I will do everything I possibly can to make sure that everyone gets a break at least every half hour.  There will be appropriate facilities for "rest" and to warm up.

Let’s make this a safe ride and remember: This is all about Respect and Honor for this Hero and his Family.

Rod Foley, Ohio Ride Captain

Respect for the military has sometimes been lost. This should not happen again....ever.

The hero is one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by.

Contact has been made with the CAO and our services will be offered to this family. Please be patient, there are many difficult decisions to make and many unknowns at this time. Information will be made available when known.

Enjoy your life and freedoms, for a most costly price is being paid for them. Support those that pay that price, and sacrifice, FOR US.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom.

Our nation is forever grateful for your sacrifice. May God be especially close to CPL Armstrong's family and friends in the coming days.

O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

What Heroes Gave

Each donned their uniform to be
Defenders of our liberty

Their mission sure, their spirits bright
Guard freedom’s home, be brave to fight

One final day each faced their call
Each gave their best enduring all

We’ll never know what they went through
But know they loved this country true

Deep down inside we should all feel
What heroes gave, their cost so real

We must stay thankful, grateful of
The gift of freedom through their love

Their loved ones bore the gravest pain
What we can’t know, some now sustain

To God I pray their pain will cease
And each will find long-lasting peace

Remember this from year to year
What heroes gave – shan’t disappear

We’ll never let their special day
Their time for honor slip away

These brave fought for a nation free
If not for them, where would we be?
