Private First Class Johnathon Miles Millican, US Army

It is with sincere regret that I place this confirmed mission on the PGR site. I was telephonically contacted by the family of Private First Class Johnathon Millican, 2nd Platoon, A Battery, 2/37 Field Artillery, Fort Richardson, Alaska who was one of five US Army personnel KIA in Iraq over the weekend. Private First Class Millican is survived by his Wife Shannon, Mother Mary and Father Mitchell, Sister Amber'le, Sister Ashley, and Sister Amanda, Stepmother Angie, Stepfather Ronnie Lykins, Grandmother, Faye McGinnis, Grandmother, Eloise Bunn, Niece Destine, Nephew Malachi,.

I spoke at length with Johnathon's Father a few minutes ago who requested that the Patriot Guard honor his son at the service and funeral to be held in Trussville. Mr. Millican told me that Private First Class Millican was 20 years and 16 days old, a graduate of Locust Fork High School. He married his sweetheart Shannon and joined the Army. He is stationed in Alaska but was sent to Iraq in support of the War on Terrorism.

I spoke with Catfish this evening and the Ride Captain for this mission will be CJ and I. There will be a lot more to come in the near future. Mr. Millican was only made aware of this yesterday and his first meeting is with the CAO (who is stationed at Fort Rucker) tomorrow afternoon.

To the family of PFC Johnathon Miles Millican - Words cannot express my sorrow for the loss of your son, your husband. My brother, SFC Richard J. Henkes, II was killed on September 3, 2006, just 2 months into his deployment, so I truly do understand what you are going through. I, too, am in the Army and served as my brother's official escort from Dover, AFB to Portland, Oregon. The Patriot Guard Riders were there at the airport to escort us home on September 10th. They were there in force for his memorial service on the 11th. They were there for his inurnment at Willamette National Cemetary on the 14th. The tribute the Oregon PGR paid my brother was tremendous. I expect no less of this chapter. These individuals give freely of their time and themselves to honor those who have given everything. While nothing will ever take away the pain you are experiencing right now, please know that you will be comforted by the presence of these wonderful people. I am living in Birmingham now, and plan to be at your son's memorial service to support you in any way I can. If there is anything I can do for you please feel free to email me at linda.a.bass@us.army.mil or labass67@yahoo.com. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Your son's sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Very Respectfully,
