CHANGE IN STAGING LOCATION: We will be staging in the parking lot of the Athens Middle School, 6800 State Highway 19 South, in Athens. It is located about 2 miles south of the newly completed south loop in Athens, TX. Riders approaching Athens on Hwy. 19 from the north and south will find the school on the west side of the highway south of town. Riders approaching Athens from the east or west will take the loop to the south, and exit to the south at the "Highway 19-Palestine" sign. Head south on 19, and you will see the school on your right. There is a gas stop/feed store across the street with facilities and fuel available.
Note: The southern part of the loop in Athens has just been completed and does appear on the map. However, the locations of Hwy. 19 and the school are correct.
We will be leaving the staging area at 12:45 and travelling 3.5 miles to the church, in order to have the flag line in place by 1:00 as guests arrive. We ask you to make all efforts to attend this mission despite the predicted cold weather. Dress warm, and if necessary, bring the "cage". We want you in the flag line, regardless of how you got there. After the sacrifice this young man has made, it's the least we can do for him. Thanks.

This is the final itinerary for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor Pfc Allen B. Jaynes, 21, of Murchison, TX (Athens, TX services), who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq. The mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made.
Services: Saturday, February 3rd, 2007, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 105 S. Carroll, Athens, Texas. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at the Tidmore Cemetery, approx 14 miles northeast of Athens.
Senior Ride Captain: Robert Young (Horsepen), cell # 903-445-3486 . He will be assisted by Ride Captains Bob Keith (Bosn') and Roy Akin (PapaSmurf).
Weather Report: Sunny with a daytime high of 54 degrees. Dress accordingly with leathers for your own protection, and come prepared for any type of weather, as any weather forecast is subject to change in Texas.
Bring flag poles and flags if you have them. Flags mounted on bikes would be great, but if you have to "cage" it, bring your big flags anyway, plus any extras that you may have. We will have the PGR flags from Dallas as well. If you need Patriot Guard items for you or your bike, let me know and we will try to have them available for sale during the staging only.
Staging Site and Time: From 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the parking lot of the Walmart store, 1405 E. Tyler St. (Hwy. 31) in Athens. There are numerous food and fuel stops nearby. A map link from the staging area to the church will be included below.
Departure : All new members are requested to complete the PGR Release of Liability prior to safety briefing. The safety briefing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Departure (KSU) for the First Baptist Church will be at 12:45 p.m. We will ride in a staggered formation and present a uniform appearance with flags flying as we ride approximately 1.6 miles to the church. Our plan is to have the flag line in place by 1:00 p.m. as guests begin to arrive.
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&1a=1405+E.+Tyler+St.&1c=Athens&1s=TX&1z=75751&1y=US&2a=105+S.+Carroll+St.&2c =Athens+&2s=TX&2z=75751&2y=US&dir=Get+Directions&CID=lfddwid
Please note: We will be riding about 14 miles to the cemetery northeast of Athens after the service. We will have some down time during the church service, so please remain flexible as to mission requirements during the afternoon.
Please remember that our mission is to honor this fallen soldier and pay our respects to his family. Stand tall and silent, and be proud as we salute this American hero. Ride safe and may God bless.

This young man is from Murchison, TX, near Athens, TX. His notification should read Henderson County, TX instead of Henderson, TX. His funeral will be in Athens.
I am in contact with the funeral director, who will hopefully receive permission from the family on Tuesday, Jan. 23, for us to attend this young man's services, possibly in the next 7 to 10 days. I will advise when any information is received.
Until then, may God bless and comfort the family of this fallen hero in this difficult time. |
