I recieved this email from Jerad:

I just got my butt chewed by my neighbor, the owner of Cole's Mower service.  I showed him the pictures of all the people in his shop.  He thought there was going to be like 20-25 of us only.  If he would have known there would be over 100 people there for over an hour, he would have come down with me at 6:45 and turned on the furnace to take the bite out of the air.  Next time he will, if we have another this winter.   Count on being able to use that facility any time we need to.  Just shoot me an email.  Did I tell you all that I figured I made about 124 cups of coffee.  The last 30 minutes, I could not make it fast enough.

His generosity was fantastic. With all the body heat, didn't seem all that bad. I may do an extra swipe with the ole Right Guard next time, especially if its any warmer. If there is a next time, I'm sure hoping for warmer weather.

It was still warmer inside than outside! Pass on a big thanks and appreciation for their hospitality! Have them pass a big thanks on to their friend who provided the "trailer blockade" during Sgt. Hasse's services. That was great!! On another note...forums by State is a great idea!! Simplifies info search within your state while still being able to keep abreast of PGR information from other states. Thanks!!!

Great to see that we now have a local place to check. Just hope that it doesn't get used much!

Man, that is beautiful. Those are some fine folks.

Great to have a Kansas forum. I pray we don't need to use it for mission planning.

Jerad,

Tell your neighbor that we all appreciated what he did... it was great! And thanks for the offer to let us meet there again, if needed. Also, tell Rex that he did a great job...
It was nice to meet you and visit with you a little bit at the church. My boyfriend Dana & I would be honored to stand beside you again sometime. In case you don't remember me, I'm the one that you tried to give your hand warmer to, but I wasn't about to take off my boots to put it in.

Tammy

Oh, and I really like the idea of the State Forum... good job guys!

It was my pleasure to host you all. Hopefully nothing will happen from now until Dec 28th. I will be out of town. My family will be spending Christmas with my parents in Green Bay WI. I actually get to use my Packer season tickets. Last year the wife said she would never go to another Winter game, but the Christmas game against the Bears was the only home game both of our work schedules would allow us to go to. I will give my neighbors phone number to a fellow ALR 136 rider. God forbid you will need to use the place again.

December 9, 2005 Sgt. Donald Hasse Funeral, Wichita, Kansas Saint Joseph Catholic Church It was about 8 degrees with a wind chill of minus 1 at about 8AM in the morning. The side roads and parking lots were snow packed. The Patriot Guard Riders started showing up at the staging point in 4 wheelers around 7:30AM. There were riders from all over the state. By 8:30, there were approximately 100-150 Patriots. There were 6 brave riders that rode up on iron horses. After signing the flag, having a cup of coffee and meeting other members, the road captain from CMA led us in prayer. With this done, we all drove over in file to the Church. The Patriot Guard all got on their posts while patriotic music was coming from a boom box. There was a lot of pride in the air, flags flying high, and anticipation of what was to come. We co-captains met with Sgt. Hasse’s mother and were introduced to Sgt. Hasse’s son, Donald Hasse, Jr. After we gave our condolences, we then presented the “We Support Our Troops” flag, signed by the participating Patriots, a framed 12” defenders of freedom patch, and a commemorative POW-MIA challenge coin. Shortly after 9AM, the UGs (uninvited guests from Westboro Baptist Church) came upon their street corner. There were about 8 of them, no children or senile adults, were present. They stayed quiet. The Patriot Guard Riders turned their backs to them and flew their flags high. Banners were used to shield the family from the grotesque signs that the UGs were holding. The family was very supportive of our efforts to support them. There was a Suburban pulling a long enclosed trailer that seemed to be lost because he kept coming by that corner and every time he got there, would have some type of problem. I really felt sorry for this individual as many others did. It was also a shame for the UGs, because no one could see them or their signs. Some of the Patriots would go out and talk to him to help guide him around the corner so he wouldn’t hit any cars. I hope he gets some training so he can turn corners easier and faster. (I later found out that this non-commercial licensed driver was a friend of the gentleman that furnished our staging area). Shortly before 10AM, the UGs left their corner and packed on out. The funeral director came out and announced that we were invited in or we could go into an adjacent building and warm up and watch the service on a live feed. There were about 30 Patriot Guards that remained on post in case if any UGs came back. It was a fitting service for a hero. As the casket was brought out to the hearse, the Patriot Guard Riders all saluted and remained that way until the family was in their cars. At this time, the Catholic school children single filed out of the school carrying American flags. They lined the sidewalk…………..I am sorry but I tear up every time I think about this. Anyway, they lined the sidewalk down and around the street where the procession was going to go. These children put the Patriot Guard Riders to shame when it came to standing tall with their flags. No offense guards, it was just so touching, and you guys have just lost your cute from the old days. GOD BLESS AMERICA

My hands were freezing and fingers hurt. But when we shook the hands of those students who were out there in the cold, my hand has never felt such warmth. God Bless them and God Bless and Protect Our Troops.

It was an privilage and an honor to be a part of what we accomplished on Friday at Sgt. Hasse's funeral. We showed respect for the family and a fallen hero. Whenever possible I too will attend any funerals of our fallen comrades and show my support for the family, letting them know that the sacrafice of their family member will not be forgetten. It was cold that day, but any discomfort I felt was minor compared to what this family was going through. My son is currently serving with the Army in Iraq and I pray that God will keep him and all those serveing our country safe. I would like to end this note with a couple of Bible passages in the hopes that they may bring us all some comfort.

John 14
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a] trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."

John 15:13 (New International Version
13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Ebay,
As always, great write up!
Some of you folks need to think about writng a book. Once again, the Kansas PGR contingent shines. Unfortunately, you're getting a lot of practice.

I was truly blessed to be a part of this, I just can't understand why Phelps and his followers would do anything like they do. If there are anymore in the area, I will definately be there supporting the family members from the UG's

Great job to you guys at Wichita. I just looked at the pics and you guys have a brew on me anytime for riding the scoots in the snow.

I feel bad now because I caged it to Ark City.

Darn good job as has come to be expected.

You should read it. It's a good article about the funeral and Sgt. Hasse. It does mention the Patriot Gaurd and why we are there. All it says about them is that they were there in few numbers.

Man! This is sending me up the wall. I thought I replied to you one time and switched back over to IE since Firefox apparently doesn't play nicely with this software.

Thanks for the heads up dctwebman. I thought it was a link to the UGs website and wasn't in the mood for those idiots today.

Thanks again

My boyfriend Dana & I were at Sgt. Hasse's funeral, along with several of our friends who are now involved with the PGR.
Yessss.... it was cold, and I swear I just knew I was gonna have frostbite on my feet... But we were so very proud to be there, and wouldn't have missed it for the world. We had to head for home shortly after the UGs left and the service began, but I wish we could've stayed until the end. When I saw the pics of the little kids lining the street in that cold, cold weather.... well, it definitely brought a tear to my eye... damn, that was really something...

Nice post, Ebay..... thanks.
