Hello Sir, my name is Glenn Gill. Debora Nichols gave me your name as a contact person and suggested that we get in touch with you. (I had planned on this anyways ! ) Our son, Sgt. Matthew L. Deckard was killed during combat patrol operations in Baghdad on Sept. 16, 2005. We are dedicating a monument in honor of our fallen hero on Feb. 3rd at 2:00 pm at The New Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens here in Elizabethtown. My wife and I would like to invite the Patriot Guard Riders to attend this ceremony as we greatly appreciate everything that The Patriot Guard is doing for our fallen soldiers and their families.

After our son was laid to rest, I ran across a flyer from Them whereas I learned that they were going to protest at his funeral. Luckily, they didn't show up. Needless to say, I was furious to learn that they were doing things like this to our fallen soldiers. I can't tell you enough, as a father and ex soldier, how greatful I am that the Patriot Guard helps to soften the blows of disrespect that are directed at our soldiers.
I hope that you and the Patriot Guard Riders of Kentucky accept our invitation to attend this dedication ceremony.

Thank you and best regards,

Glenn & Cassie Gill

My sincere condolences to Mr and Mrs Gill. I know the sorrow of your loss, and I am very proud of the service your son has performed. Although I am not from KY, my relatives settled that country in the late 1700's, the Hardin's. I am going to attend this Memorial dedication without hesitation. Please keep me informed.

Mr. and Mrs. Gill,

I send my most sincere condolences to you as you mourn the loss of your son.  May you take comfort in knowing that there are strangers who will stand beside you, whether there in person or in spirit alone, to honor your son for his service to our Nation and to give you strength at such a difficult time.

Although I only learned of the monument dedication ceremony the night before it is scheduled to occur, I will try to attend the ceremony tomorrow if I can possibly get away from work commitments.

Very respectfully,

Phil Roberts

Please be advised that even though the weather was severely cold and windy the ceremony was very humbling and heart felt. I admire the father of this fallen soldier for putting up this beautiful monument for his brave son that gave his life for this Great Country that we live in so safe and sound. Thanks also to the many brave men and women that are serving today in harms way.
We had about 50-60 people in attendance including seven PGR. We received several compliments from the people in attendance including very nice compliments from a Lt. Col. from the Air Force stationed in Louisville. The Sheriff from Nelson County came by and also thanked us for coming down and being a part of this ceremony for this fallen Hero from his town. The flags looked great blowing in the crisp wind at the top of this hill side. I talked to the father at the end of this ceremony and thanked him for allowing us to be a part of this ceremony. He thanked us for coming and we advised him that we were honored to be here today.

Respectfully,
