Farewell my brother. Your sevice to your country has insured our freedom. Rest now, and we will take over the watch.

Sorry, I have to go to Hempstead tomorrow for the Civil War reenactment. Can't be in both places at once. Only weekend my wife can get off work to go to one of these things. You can learn more on the Texas area posting about Hemptstead.

Stand tall and I will be there in thought.

Hand Salute!

Ready, Two!

M I S S I O N ~ C O M P L E T E !

The PGR was Honored today to assist in laying their Son, Husband, Brother and Friend to rest.  At 1500
USNavy PO2 (ret) "Chuck" Welch took his final ride.

We had 30 Bikes and 3 4-Wheelers pull in for this Mission.  That is outstanding for a Mission with such short notice.  A lot of you went to a lot of trouble to attend this Mission and I am very grateful for your heart-felt support of this family and Vet.

We did our usual honor presentations at the chapel and the interment with the family having the PGR lead the hearse to the burial site.

There were many instances of Family and friends coming over to thank the PGR for being their and for our Mission over all.

As the interment service concluded someone announced that they wanted to thank the PGR for their support and the funeral party all broke into applause. Doc and I and a few others greeted the family.  Again they thanked us.  As the service broke up the Funeral Director tracked me down and on behalf of the family presented me with a Ceramic Eagle/Flag that was part of the decoration from the casket.  They also gave one to Chuck's Father.  I accepted for all the PGR Riders.  I've attached a picture.

Although we didn't have the Standard Honor flags our group did us proud by coming up with their own to render honors.

I just want to thank everyone who went to great lengths to support this very short notice Mission.  That just shows the pride we have in supporting our Troops and Vets.

I hope everyone made it home safe and sound and again......THANK YOU.

While we stood in a two-rank cover-formation across the narrow strip of asphalt from the burial site where family and close friends brought Chuck to his final resting place, standards flowing in the wind in the front rank, and after a final salute and taps, the gathering turned to us and showed their apreciation with sincere applause and heart-felt verbal commendation.  I felt a prideful emotion that does not often come.  Sometimes you just feel proud to love and honor your country, and know that this is appreciated by those who have felt the most pain from its inevitable tribulations.
God bless America, those who defend it, and those who do not realize what is required for this phenomenon we call the United States to exist and survive.
Rest in peace, Chuck.  Your muster is no longer on this earth, but in the home of the faithful and honorable.

You are not necessarily what you say, nor are you what you think. You are only what you have done.
