Members of the Patriot Guard have been invited to attend a street renaming for CWO4 John Engman, by the family, on Saturday November 18th in East Northport LI at 11am. We are awaiting for word from Veterans affairs about street closure for the day and whether or not this will be an official Patriot Guard mission or just alot of guys with flags on a saturday out for a ride type of thing.
It is at the intersection of Ketay St. and North Ketay Drive, about 1 mile north of Jericho Tpk, just east of Larkfield Road
John was a career man who served for 25 years before he was killed by an IED in Iraq in May, he was buried at ANC on May 24th. He not only gave his life to our country but for our country. . There is a large parking area in a store on the southwest cornor of Larkfield and Jericho Tpk where we can meet for a short ride to the ceremony.

I've been in touch with the person in charge of this event for more than two weeks. She told me that ORIGINALLY, the family wanted this to be a very low-key, street-corner event. She asked the family if they wanted us to attend, and originally told me yes, but then told me not to do anything about it until I heard back from her about having the street closed to accomodate the larger event that our attendance would create.
I've haven't been able to reach her all week to get confirmation on this. I know it's short notice, but the Town Supervisor's office assured me that someone with appropriate authority will get back to me tomorrow. I'll let everyone know details AS SOON AS WE HAVE A CONFIRMED INVITATION.
If possible, please keep the day clear for this event.

Preferably rest stops on the parkway so that i can meet up with you.
I am from new york but happen to be in south jersey for a family emergency, will make this ride, if anyone needs some floor space to crash in NY let em know I have a very tiny place but can fit one or two guys on the floor if need be.

| Kieth,
All you need to do is show up at the rally point designated by the ride captain. If possible bring a flag ( 3 x 5 with pole ). Come early and meet the folks. That's it. The ride captain will go over everything at the rally area.

| As a friend of Johns sister, I want to once again thank the ladies and gentlemen who rode with us today. A very nice turn out, I did not make a count but I estimated about 65 bikes, some with 2 up and 1 in a side car.
Johns parents asked me me to tell every member of the patriot guard how much they appreciate what we do, not only for their son, but for all our hero's. We inspired Johns wife Donna so much, she went out and bought a motor cycle and plans on joining the PGR when she gets home.
There was also a piece on this on Ch 12 news it included a clip with a group shot of the PGR and another clip with one of the members talking with the parents. I can't find it on line but will post the url if I do. |
