Well done, all.

As always, I am honored to have been able to ride this mission on William's behalf. No Marine's life, or for that matter, anyone in the military, can be simply "written off". These men & women, no matter the circumstances of thier passing, should and must be honored with all of the dignity and respect that can be mustered. After all, were it not for them, and those that have gone before, our nation would not be the Great Country that it is today.

To Seargent Wold's family & friends:

Thank you for letting us do this service. It is our honor to stand, salute & pray for your son. Certainly, we wish such things would not happen, but, sadly, they do. And as long as there is a need, if allowed, we will keep showing the rest of the country that Honor, Dignity, Service & Sacrifice are not merely words to be looked up in a dictionary. Rather, they are the standards lived by every member of our armed forces, and, should the need arise, we will honor the fallen with no less.

To all of you that braved the elements today, thank you. You make me proud to be your State Captain.

To the family and friends of Sgt. Wold, know that you do not stand alone, as can be seen many others stand with you in this time of need. It is indeed good to know that so many droped what they were doing to honor this young man. I to will be standing by to ride to honor this Marine if time allows.

It is with a heavy heart that I pass on these condolences to you and your family. I know that these words won’t bring your loved one back, but be assured, they will not be forgotten. Our brothers & sisters-at-arms will continue the good fight until we bring all our people home. My prayers are with you during this time of loss.

REMINDER for FRIDAY NOV 17

SGT Wold Mission Part II.

We will be assembling at the VFW on 18th Street in Vancouver, just down the street form Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  It is located at 11018 Northeast 18th Street, Vancouver, WA.  Raven, please correct me if I am wrong.  Thank you.

They have graciously stated they will open their doors between 1000 and 1030 so we can get in out of the weather. They will have coffee, sodas and juice available. Raven has stated there may even be a few doughnuts for the lucky few that get there first!

We will be KSU at 1115 for the ride to the Church for the Memorial Services, which start at 1200. The Family has requested (and it has been granted by the Funeral Director/Pastor) to have us park our bikes right in front of the Church because they want us to “MAKE NOISE” as we come in. “Bill would have wanted it that way,” says his mom.

We will then leave a 5 Bike Missing Man Team at the Church and send everyone to the Funeral Home/Cemetery to set up. The procession will escort SGT Wold to his final resting-place. After the ceremony, we have been invited for a short Grave Blessing.

Just a gentle reminder:

Tomorrow's mission is a Washington State mission, and since the Vancouver District Captain (Kodiak) has to work tomorrow and Gary Everett is sick, the request was made for BJ to fill in as the Ride Captain with Lonewolf assisting....
This is not a border issue, but a courtesy issue....and a respect issue....

Per the WA State Captain (RebelCowboy) BJ is running the mission, and will be the presenting overseer.

Recent information has brought to our attention that Sergeant Wold was not physically wounded in Iraq, however he did serve in Iraq. He died while serving on Active Duty in California.

While none of this is relative to the mission, I felt that I should clarify this so that no one would think that we have given out any erroneous reports for the mission.

In no way shape or form does this change our mission, and we will be there to honor this Marine and support his family as they deal with their loss.

Thank you all for what you do, and continue to do in the hideous weather and the short notice without regard for your own self and the life that you are willing to put on hold for these families.....

STAFF Sergeant BAM and others,
He was indeed wounded in Iraq, and although he has few physical scars, he gave more than can be imagined. I knew this man and we owe him a debt.

MISSION COMPLETE

To all who rode to honor William, Thank You. You are what the public sees in these times of personal crisis, and to be as diverse as we are, and yet maintain dignity and respect, says a lot about each one of you.

To William's family & friends: Thank You for allowing us the privelege of honoring your son & friend. It truly is OUR HONOR.

It was definatly my honor to be there to lay the good seargent to rest. I continually wish that "this one" will be the "last one", but I know better. William has been added to the rolls of "Ride Captains on the Other Side", and we will surly ride together sometime in the future, should that be God's will.

Thanks again to all of you that put your normal lives aside for today, and came out in the cold to show honor to this young Marine's family.

God Bless you all.

Top,<> Thank you for your kind words and for joining our ranks today to honor this young man taken too soon. Our exit from the services today was only the second time we have used that method and I am glad you approved of it. We named it the "Pipey Fade" in honor of our fine bagpiper that always does us proud. Semper Fi Marine, it was nice to have you with us.

SGT William Wold Part II Complete.

The morning began cool and crisp. We left Coburg at 0700 with 5 bikes, picking one up at the Santiam Rest Area as we stopped in hopes of getting warm. We continued on to Lattus Motors for a quick stop to see if there were riders there to join us, then on into Vancouver. As we entered Vancouver, I asked Zopa if he remembered where the VFW was and if he could lead the group there because I wanted to head to the Church to make sure I did not lead the Pack astray on the Mission (sorta want to let Zopa remain in a class by himself, if you know what I mean). Found the church, made liaison with the Family and Funeral Director. Was able to get a good visual on the route and even give the Flaggers at the construction site a head’s up with what was going to happen so we would have as little delay as possible getting through. BTW, they were great getting us through the area!

Oh, Zopa did not get lost during his one block ordeal. When I arrived at the VFW, all bikers were present and/or accounted for.

Speaking of the VFW Post #7824, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Rene’ and Raven for hosting the PGR this morning and making us feel extremely welcome in their home. For those that do not know, they opened two hours early for us to have a place to gather, have coffee, juice, doughuts and prepare for the Mission!

O.K., there were 27 Bikes and 4 Cages on the Mission. Some traveled from as far away as Seattle, Washington and Eugene, Oregon for this Mission. The Ride Brief was begun with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a word of Prayer. WE had two new riders with us as well as a good mixture of Veterans and Non-Veterans. I would like to say that I personnaly enjoy seeing non-veterans that show, giving of their time to Honor those that have made this Country what it is today…The Land of the Free. Instructions, route, road guards were discussed and we were on our way.

KUDOS to the Road Guards, or Rolling Life Savers as I am now referring to them! Thank you Gentlemen (I use that term loosely!) for what you do for us to keep us safe!

As we rolled in to the Church, as per Sandi’s request, the RPM’s were increased and there was MUCH NOISE! This lasted for several minutes, causing a crowd to gather to see what was going on. When things quieted down, Sandi’s Sister came out to thank us, followed by Sandi. She expressed her deepest Gratitude for what we did and wanted to express it to each and everyone. She said William would have wanted it that way.

Once services started, the majority of the riders departed to the VFW, led by Zopa (without getting too lost, from what I understand) and the Missing Man Riders remained for the escort. Many wonderful things were said about William during the service. I feel I know him now.

After the service, the lead contingency headed to the Cemetery to form the receiving Flag Line as the Escorts began the ride. Once at the Cemetery, all was somber as the Marine Escorts carried William from the Coach and final farewells began. Pipey played the Marine Hymn followed by Amazing Grace. The PGR followed Pipey out quietly once again, leaving the family alone for their final farewells to an American Hero.

The ride home was a time for reflection. Just before reaching our destination, the sun began to set and we were greeted with an unbelievable Sun Set.

Thank you to William’s family for allowing us to be a part of their lives at this trying time. Thank you William for your dedicated service to your God, Country and your Family. You are a True Hero.

God Bless.

Thanks BJ for an excellent job as ride captain once again. You did us all proud. As Top from WA Marines MC said, outstanding organized effort. Again, I was so very proud to ride with my brothers and sisters of PGR in honor of this fallen Marine. I agree with Chonga, the sunset was Sgt. Wold sending his gratitude down to you.

Thank you to SGT. Wold's family for allowing us to be a part of the celebration of his life. To his grandfather for the inspiring words at the service and his brother for his beautiful reflections of Sgt. Wold's life. It reminds me of why we wear dark glasses.

To each of the Patriot Guard Riders that was there for my son
William, for your respect your kindness and knowing there was strength
in my darkest hour present and standing around all of my family
I am indeed thankful.  I need to let each of you know I felt SAFE, I knew
no harm would come to any of my family that you were all there because you
care.  It touches my heart that you took the time to care.  Thank you for
taking the time to hug me to let me know that some how this would all
make sense some day or maybe not but I have friends and family I
don't even know.
You made a difference!
Thank you for making the extra noise, William would have loved the
rumble of your bikes, many years ago I was a rider too, a life time ago
and maybe again some day soon!

Mrs Wold, it is a great honor for us to be given the privilege of paying our respects to a true American HERO. Though I was not present for the escort or the service, my thoughts were with you as you sent your son on his final journey. "Freedom is not free," as they say, and we all know that it is thanks to the heroic efforts of those who serve that we are able to continue to enjoy the freedoms of this great nation. Your son's death was not in vain...he will always be remembered as our HERO. You have every right to be proud!

Love and hugs from a Mom,
