| Short Notice - Sgt. William C. Wold, USMC, - Vancouver WA - 17 Nov 06
This is an extremely short notice mission:
Sgt. William C. Wold, USMC was wounded in Iraq and died in California. His remains will arrive at Portland International Airport at 1244 on Wednesday, Nov 15. The family has requested an escort to Evergreen Memorial Garden, Vancouver.
Funeral services are Friday....time, location and internment TBD.
At this point, we have the airport escort for Wednesday, and do not have details of the other things that we have been asked to do....
Staging will be at the Home Depot near the airport at 1200 Wednesday. Please check back later for additional details and for the Ride Captain information.
We hope that we can have many of the PGR members show as possible given the late notice of this mission. The DoD does not release this info when the death occurs in the States, however we were contacted directly from the Marine Corps, and per the mother's request, we are invited!
Thank you all who are able to attend!

I have agreed to be the Ride Captain for this Mission and plan to be at the Home Depot prior to the 12:00 muster time. I will be caging it this time as weather is predicted to be extremely nasty on Wednesday. If you are riding, please dress for the weather and ride SAFELY!
I have room for 3-4 others, if anyone from Eugene/Springfield area want to ride along. If so, let me know and we can pick a meeting spot (probably the Coburg Truck Stop) and head out from there, but please let me know so I knw I have room. I would hate to have 8-10 folks show up expecting a spot and not have the room. |

I deeply regret that a previous commitment makes it impossible to attend, but not as much as I regret that that men of integrity are still being called to sacrifice so much on our behalf. It is an honor and privilege to acknowlege Sgt William C. Wold as an American patriot, and to commit to my duty... "Never Forget".
God bless you and go before you.

SGT Wold Mission Part I Complete.
This group in Oregon and Washington never ceases to amaze me. With less than a 24 hour notice, this conglomeration of Crazed Motorcycle Enthusiasts assembled 16 Bikes, 5 cages for a total of 25 people to Honor SGT Wold with an Airport to Funeral Home Escort. This was done under imminent threat of torrential down pours and winds up to 30 mph! I AM IMPRESSED!
WE had, I believe, 6 new riders with us today as well! WELCOME!!
Hats off to SSGT Hough of the Portland Marie Corps Reserve Unit for his assistance in setting this Mission up. He went above and beyond to ensure the Military Side of this Mission was ready and able to do their part. He even arranged a Police Escort for us!
My Sincere Thanks to LoneWolf for his assistance in leading the Pack (pun intended) to the Airport as well as the Funeral Home. OUTSTANDING JOB!
We had a set of Road Guards that are to be commended as well. Long View Tom, Squeeze, Kodiak and WhistleBill provided that much needed service and ensured we all made it through intersections and such.
The Family stated their Deep Appreciation for our participation and has invited us to join them Friday for the Memorial Service and Burial. I will post shortly the details on that.
OREGON AND WASHINGTON PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS…YOU ARE AWESOME!!
Thank you all who where there either in the flesh or in spirit!

SGT Wold Mission Part II.
We will be assembling at the VFW on 18th Street in Vancouver, just down the street form Evergreen Memorial Gardens. It is located at 11018 Northeast 18th Street, Vancouver, WA. Raven, please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.
They have graciously stated they will open their doors between 1000 and 1030 so we can get in out of the weather. They will have coffee, sodas and juice available. Raven has stated there may even be a few doughnuts for the lucky few that get there first!
We will be KSU at 1115 for the ride to the Church for the Memorial Services, which start at 1200. The Family has requested (and it has been granted by the Funeral Director/Pastor) to have us park our bikes right in front of the Church because they want us to “MAKE NOISE” as we come in. “Bill would have wanted it that way,” says his mom.
We will then leave a 5 Bike Missing Man Team at the Church and send everyone to the Funeral Home/Cemetery to set up. The procession will escort SGT Wold to his final resting-place. After the ceremony, we have been invited for a short Grave Blessing.

| BJ,
That's a great ride report. Thank you for coming all the way up here to Portland to insure that this mission went smoothly. It was an honor to assist you inside the chapel as you gracefully consoled the family in this terrible time they are living through. Lone Wolf was an inspiration also. It is clearly the most difficult part of a mission, trying to find the right words to alleviate some of the pain the family is enduring. The circumstances behind this young Marines death made this an even more daunting task and my heart goes out to this family as they try to understand and cope with this passing of what is without question one of the Marine Corp's finest young warriors. I pray that time will reveal to them all the reasons for this untimely death.
Zopa, our State Captain, and his sidekick Candice (a brave soul); WhistleBill of In- Country Vets; Longview Tom of the Gypsy Jokers; Squeeze from the Outsider's; and Kodiak from Northwest Veterans all did a fine job of keeping us all safe, particularly with so many cages involved. My hat is off to all of these hardy souls.
The rest of us, the meat and potatoes of the PGR , and the Military Escorts , all looked impressive as we escorted this Marine across state lines to his final resting place in a long procession of various vehicles with flags galore. I thought we all looked particularly good as we saluted Sgt. Wold as he departed the coach. As always I am proud to stand alongside this wonderful group of true Patriots.
