We can all learn something from Joe, Despite all his hardships he never gave up and never stopped caring. It's men like him that make this country great and I would be honored to ride on this mission.
I'll be there. |

Thanks to all who have responded. I have since learned that Joe has a distant Brother in Pa. I don't know if he'll come down for the funeral or not.
We will have plenty of hot coffee, doughnuts and muffins available for all when they get here.
With the weather forcast being unsettled, If anyone wants to trailer in for the ride, I have plenty of room at my place to leave the rigs if you want to ride to the Funeral.Let me know & I'll get you directions to my place. Thanks all Ron

I just got word that tomorrow after the funeral there will be a covered dish luncheon at the VFW Hall on 24/27 East in Albemarle. Please feel free to come by, bring something or not. There usually is more food than can be eaten and all PGR are invited with the American Legion Riders. Ron |

Ron,
Thank you in advance for all the work you have put into this mission. Wow - hot coffee, doughnuts, etc... Then hot food.
I also want to urge everyone to use caution when traveling tomorrow. The weather outlook does not look favorable to good riding. I pray that tomorrow God will assign an angle to watch over and ride as copilot with each of you. |

This is a labor born of love and respect Grnpaw. I figure one more way to honor Joe's wishes... honor and respect for him by serving the Brethren. That's what he wanted to do. Now we do it for him.
So many kind words of respect and Brothers & Sisters of the PGR braving the weather on top of other personal sacrifices to stand in honor of his service and works for others. I have already recieved donations from a couple of people on Joe's behalf from folks that never had the pleasure of his company.God bless and care for each and every one of our Family of the PGR.
One member who was going to ride tomorrow found out about 6:00 tonight that he couldn't make it tomorrow. He got in his car and drove from Charlotte to Albemarle tonight to pay his respects and bring a donation. Now I ask you..... who else but a true Brother would go that far out of his way to help. I sure was glad to still be at the Funeral home and proud to shake this mans hand.
I visited Father Fitz ( Joe's Priest) today in his office at the church and we talked for a little while about honor and service. Yes, He too had been there and back, a Brother in Arms and is still active now in the reserves. Surprise,,, he'll be doing the service, not in his Robe or Frock but in his Class A's. I asked and received a blessing from him that I now share with everyone who will be traveling or riding tomorrow. Safety and better weather for their journey.
See everyone tomorrow

Years ago the monsoons were so heavy that our platoon marched half way into a river before we knew it. We made a 180. Getting wet doesn’t bother me…
The LEAST I can do is ride for a tunnel rat (they have my UTMOST respect), but in order to keep harmony in the family, I have promised my wife that I wouldn’t make this ride. She mentioned something about standing water, slick leaves and trying to keep a 700 pound motorcycle up in heavy winds.
My rear pegs are down for you, Joe - rest in peace, brother.

It is with a heavy heart that I pass on these condolences to you and your family. I know that these words won’t bring your loved one back, but be assured, they will not be forgotten. Our brothers & sisters-at-arms will continue the good fight until we bring all our people home. My prayers are with you during this time of loss.

Thanks to all who responded to help honor this soldier who passed on to Glory after having such a hard life.
Some who couldn't make the trip sent a check to help with the final expenses, others braved some terrible weather to come out and stand the line. Others offered kind words of support to those of us who knew the pleasure of Joe's company and were aware of how much Joe had given for all of us.Even with the rain and windstorm from the night before, lots of our members left home in early morning storms and rain to be here and stand up for for his last ride.
Our prayers were answered before the Services began. It stopped raining and we had a good dry day for the 35 mile run to the National Cemetary in Salisbury. We had a good number of PGR Bikes, flags and cages for Joe's escort. Led by three American Legion Riders immediately behind the Coach and PGR members just behind.Terry and Lisa Cook and Pam white ( Joe's caregiver and adopted family here) were awestruck by the dedication of our folks who stood up when given the opportunity. Terry couldn't believe that many people cared, now he knows.
Terry sends his personal Thank you to all the men and women who gave their time and expenses to show respect to a dear friend.Along the procession route, Terry saw people stopping their cars, some getting out and standing, some Saluting as we passed and said " Maybe there is hope for this world afterall"!
This shows the scale of appreciation for humanity that makes up our loyal band of PGR members. At the end of the day, we had not only paid homage and respect to a Vet who had left us but had given hope to his small "adopted" family that people DO care.
A very special Thanks to all of you for all you do
