Hey there...
An Arizona PGR member has informed me that his son, Michael Nelson, is returning home to the USA on Saturday, November 4th 2006 from Okinawa. He is in the U.S. Air Force, and was deployed during his tour to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq on TDY. His father has requested we meet Michael and welcome him home.
Michael is arriving at Seatac at 0800 on Saturday, AMC flight 80. It would be great if anyone who can make it could meet him at the gate, and ride escort with him to where he is staying.
Details are still pending, but the plan now is to meet his father, Greg Perkins, prioir to his arrival, then follow Michael to his destination on the ground. Times and location for meeting will be posted as soon as possible.
Thanks!

OK, hers a new update. I have been unable to contact SSG Nelsons father, I think je is on the road from Arizona right now. Heres the tentative plan:
I spoke to AMC, they said we can meet him at Baggage Carousel Three. If he is due on the ground at 0800, he should be at the carousel about half an hour later. I was not able to get the airline and flight he is coming in on, I think due to security reasons. If anyone who can make it can meet at the Baggage Carousel 3 at 0745-0800, that would be perfect. Greg Perkins should be there, or at least some other family members. At a minimum we can greet him at the airport, give him the old "Welcome home". If possible, we can co-ordinate an escort to his residence at that time. He is going to Reiten Rd in Kent, I beleive. I think Greg will be there to help us out though....
Sorry this is so disorganised! Unfortunately I will not be able to be present myself due to work conflicts.
Thanks

Thanks to everyone that is gonna make it...
I talked to Greg Perkins, SSG Nelsons father, today. He will meet everyone at the carousel and make a plan regarding an escort at that time. He was very concerned about the weather and people riding in it...I told him we are from WA, not AZ and can ride in the rain if we have to! ;) Anyway, for now just park wherever you can and a plan will be made at the spur of the moment. It will be nice for Michael to see peolpe there waiting for him, I remembercoming home frm teh Gulf and being met in Bangor by people who didn't even know us....I will never forget it. Thanks again to everyone who is showing up tomorrow!

| We would like to thank all that were with us at Michael's Home coming in the airport. I believe it started out waiting for his arrival. However, we found quite an experience welcoming home the other troops coming back on that flight. Zippy you would be proud that the zonie was riding in the rain along with the WA. PGR. Michael's sponcer (the one that helps them check in at the base) stated he had never seen that type of support and reported it to the superintendent at the base shop! Proud parents Greg and Janell. |

| Was Quite a uplifting experience. As Greg said it started off waiting for the Nelson family But decided to try to welcome everyone back on the flight, I believe we got them all. Not only that but Tacoma was the first to show up at the carousel. Wish that all our missions could be Welcome Home missions. |
