Send-Off For 142nd Field Artillery, "C" Batt. , Ozark ,Arkansas

Saturday , Nov. 11 , 2006

This send-off mission went very well.  Support from the Ozark Police Dept. was

exceptional , with several units handling traffic and the parade led by and followed by

 units.

The route had lots of people ( Large and small )  holding flags and waving to the

departing troops.   At the entry to Interstate  40  the motorcycle / car escort pulled to

the side and waved as the busses went East on  I-40.

Thanks to all who aided in preparing for and executing this mission of honor for troops

leaving home for a lengthy absence.

Thanks to all the families for enduring the absence of husbands , wives , parents ,and

brothers and sisters.

The advance publicity by newspapers , radio stations and relay by individuals helped.

May God bless and protect all of you until we ride a happy return-home mission for all.

To the Arkansas PGR:

Thank you for being there at Russellville, Ozark, and Fort Smith. Thank you for accepting Tammy, my brother, my dad, and me as part of PGR on these missions. It is always an honor to be on the missions with this special group of patriotic Americans.

Two things from the mission were very touching.

At the end of the procession was the sign that said, "God Bless C Battery".

The one that got to most people (of those that saw it) was the sign of the child that said something like, "I miss you! Come home soon! I need you! and love you!"

It was wonderful to see the town of Ozark out there for the departure of Charlie Battery. Thank you, Ozark!

I did see several of you at the Harrison, Arkansas mission. We try to remember the names of those that died for our country. The unspoken motto, "We will never forget", is something that we take quite serious, so it bothered me that I could not remember the name of the Soldier from Harrison. His name is SPC Derek Plowman.

I pray that the only mission that we have remaining for Charlie Battery from Ozark, is the official send off to Iraq, and then the welcome home. I pray that God protects and looks after them.

Once again, thank you PGR for the wonderful send off of Charlie Battery. You did them well.

-SPC Curtis Jacobs
