Count me in for this mission if it's a go. One of the hardest parts I have at these funerals is seeing the tremendous amount of respect being paid by the "older" vets who didn't get this kind of respect when they came home. I wish we could go back and right that wrong, but we can't. We should make damn sure that NEVER happens again!

...just think...because of this person The Gathering Of The Guard event was formed. Remember we talked about making it an national gathering to honor this person and then it grew into an event planned for July instead due to the unknown date of this mission and possibility of a too short of a notice to plan such a huge gathering?

I see this is still pending on if the family wants us there...

Could I get someone to "confirm" the April 15th. date and that the service/memorial is in "Oklahoma City, OK."?? The wife and I want to make this although alas we will be coming in a rental car instead of scoot. I need to make reservations for Sat. night in OKC anyone got a line on a cheap but decent Mom & Pop motel in the area? Thanks for your help!

Hey Pappy & Alan,

If we ever get a 'go' on this mission count William and I in your group to ride up if you can.

Awesome that you rode with the Iron Messengers yesterday to send Lacy off before she is deployed 3/26/06.

First you take the test, then you learn the lesson.

I will be there to show my respect to Sgt. Shannon. I hope he is watching to see that his brothers didn't forget him. I'll be coming out of the Fort Worth area and would appreciate any info on a group going that way.

Tulsa Group. Posts are missing from 3/30 - 3/27.Just an FYI.

I'll be on this one. Riding from Owasso to Mama's, then on with the group.

Might want to allow a 2 hour ride time from Tulsa to Staging Area. That should allow 1, 15 min.(?) Tank & Bladder stop somewhere along the Pike.

Look around and see what America's Soldiers have given you, then look around to see what you have given them.

Copperblaze, Still plan on meeting there around 7:00 - 7:30 range. Will adjust if required once all the timing is worked out. I was thinking Mama's time slot was around 8:00 am, but it will all work out in the end. Dang snafu...........

Ostate, No need for you to meet at the casino and do all that backtracking. Was trying to establish a meeting point for those coming east into Tulsa. Thought the Casino would be a recognizable location. Can work out all the timing when the site speeds up a bit.

Ostate, I know you asked Twister to head the ride from Mama's. FYI On the last ride to OKC, Twister staged at the service station 10 miles down the turnpike, while others staged at Mama's. Was thinking he said it was more convenient for him to meet there. Just thought I would pass that along. Whatever works is fine with me.
Moncheri, I know you were coming from Pryor and would be happy to meet you at the Casino.

Anyone else is welcome to meet there as well.

Great work on getting the site up and running again everyone.....what would we do without you...........Salute!

I talked with the family today and they said they would be honored if the PGR would establish a mission ride for Sgt. Shannon. The ceremony will be on April 15th at 11:00 AM in OKC. Otter will be posting details as they become available. Let's welcome this hero home.
Thanks,
Jeff

The Casino is back tracking for me as well. I'll be meeting at Mama's. Might as well eat before heading down.
If we time this right, we can pull out at the same time the Casino group is coming through and ride to the next rendezvous point.

Tulsaduo, That is kinda what the thought was, but we can exit and join with the Mama's group.
That wouldn't be any problem and might be easier. Sure it will all work itself out now that the site is up and running again.
