Lynn,
I talked with Elaine yesterday. She is, indeed, a realtive, but has little contact with the part of the family who will be handling Sgt. Shannon's details. She told me He has a son on the OKC area, Cody Shannon, but had no additional contact information for him. She did give me a phone number for a cousin who can give me more information. I called her and left a message, but have not received a call-back yet. Maybe we're finally getting somewhere.
I'll keep everyone posted as I learn more.
Thanks,
Jeff

I wish I could make it. Lima 85 is ledgend to those of us in what was the old Air Force Autotracking Radar carrier feild (303x3). The old timers were still talking anout Lima 85 when I was a young troop back in the early 80's. Twenty five years later there aren't very many of us who remember.

I hope a few of the Old Crows can make it.

Lima 85 was one of those black, doesn't exist, nobody knows shit ops when I was in country. We weren't supposed to be in neutral Laos, never mind running TSQ/TACAN radar for bomber runs into NVN. It had been hit years before I got there, and was one of those background stories that no one would admit but a lot knew. Which means it surprised the crap out of the press and public when it finally went mainstream in the 80s, but none of us. We left a lot of good guys out there on that shithole mountaintop most probably dead, some maybe not, and only recently did anyone admit they even existed. The POW network suspects as many as 6 survivors were taken POW but it's likely we'll never know for sure.

Welcome home bro. I'll be there.

It looks like I will be leaving from St. Louis area on the 14th and spending the night in Tulsa to hook up and make the ride to OKC. It is 375 miles from here to there. If anyone rides with me, I will schedule at least 3 stops. It is about 500 miles to OKC so it is pushing it to make the run back home without an overnight stop.

Derryl and I will be there!!! We will be riding for  Tech. Sgt. Patrick L. Shannon and in Memory of Derryl's Dad. We lost him about 19 and a half years ago; he was a Marine, did a tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. Derryl and I both did hitches in the Marine Corps. We're in Owasso and would like to meet up with anyone from Tulsa and it's surrounding area for the ride in. Anyone interested can email me at DivaMom39@aol.com or my husband at Daktari66@aol.com ; I really hope we'll be invited to ride this one. Now, if this turns out to be an early morning one, we may think about riding in the night before; I really hate getting up at zero dark thirty.

Ill be there, Hope we get an OK on this soon. I dont know why but this ride has special meaning to me. All these rides have been hard for me, but I think this one is really going to be tough. I just seems to be the right thing to do. Does anyone else feel this way?

Derryl and I have talked about this ride several times; it will have special meaning for us as well. All of the rides are special and important, but there's something about this ride that sets it apart for us. It is the right thing to do!!

Derryl and I are in Owasso and would love to hook up with you and any other locals, providing we don't ride in the night before and grab a hotel. If anyone else is considering the same thing, let us know; maybe we can ride together.
