Here's some info on the 163rd from Channel 14 (WFIE) Evansville:
UPDATE, THURSDAY, 7:00 PM: It's official...soldiers from the 163rd field artillery are coming home Sunday morning.
This is going to be some homecoming too. Many of these soldiers have been away for as long as 16 months. 14 News was in Indianapolis early this past Sunday morning when the 163rd first returned to American soil.
Several hundred family members and friends were there to greet them when they arrived at the 38th infantry division armory.
They enjoyed a 48-hour pass then reported back to camp Atterbury earlier this week for demobilization.
Now they're coming home for good Sunday morning. As of now the 163rd is scheduled to leave Indianapolis at 7am, Sunday and are expected to arrive in Evansville sometime around 9:30.
Organizers of their return are hoping as many as 10,000 tri-staters come out and welcome them home.
