CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL WEISS, 26, VETERAN USMC, WORTHINGTON (COLUMBUS) OHIO, 28 OCT

This American Hero served two tours in Iraq as part of the initial invasion into Fallujah.  He was a member of the VFW Delaware Post #3297.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, 27 Oct. at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel at 6699 North High St. in Worthington Ohio.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been extended the distinct HONOR to be invited to the Memorial Services on Saturday, 28 Oct, at the St. John's Episcopal Church, located at 700 North High St. in Worthington Ohio.

Staging will be at 1130, with "Flags Up" at 1200 at the church.  I suspect the staging will be onsite.

Steve "caretaker" Jones is the assigned Ohio Ride Captain.  Please follow the directions and instructions on this thread by Steve.

It is with deep regret that I will not be able to attend this Mission of Respect.  Prior family commitments make me unavailable.  However, this mission, and the Weiss family are in most capable hands.  It is so unfortunate that after serving our country in harms way, that this Marine past away in a vehicle accident here at home.  His place of death in no way hinders the fact that he is an American Hero, that served his country, and us, honorably.

Please Patriots, beware on the road.  This is proof that not even the toughest are immune to the hazards of the highway.

We shall be in attendance to celebrate the life of a Marine, a Son, a Brother, a Hero, one of the Fallujah Marines.  These men were the first to go in, Heroes all.

Internment will be at Arlington Cemetery.  Chris will lay with his Brothers of the past, a place where Hero's rest.  God Bless you Chris, and may your family feel God's grace, and our love this day.  May they be comforted and proud of the service of their loved one, a service to insure our freedoms, with selfless sacrifice.

Respects,

Bob "Tater" Smith

PGR Ohio State Captain
American Legion Rider

==============================

When a mans heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. - Steve "Sting" Borden

Mr. Weiss,

Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. We are proud of your service and dedication in that which you believed in and fought for. Your mission is complete. You are truly an American hero and the world in which we live is a safer place because of your commitment to freedom. We will now proudly stand for you with honor, dignity, and respect. We pray that you will now rest peacefully in the arms of God. May He provide peace, comfort, and understanding to each life you touched.

26 Oct 2006 5:17 PM Alert

I have the Distinct HONOR to be the assigned Ride Captain for the Memorial Service for this Veteran.
I spoke to Rev. Bridget Tierney of the St. John's Episcopal Church, 700 North High Street, Worthington.  We have been invited to place a cordon of flags in front of the entrance to the church.  We will be set up at the church after parking in the lot of the empty city owned building located across the street from the church. North side.

This building is located on the N/E corner of North High St.(Rte 23) and Dublin Granville Rd. (Rte 161)

To locate  the church from the North, from 270, head south 1.5 miles on High st. and the church is located on the left hand side of the road.  Our parking is located just north of the church, next to the Huntington National bank.  Be aware that this is a one way entracnce to the parking lot.

To find the church from the west, on Rte 161(Dublin Granville Rd), turn left onto High St. (north) then immediatly look to the right for the one way drive way.

To find the church from the south, coming up Rte 315, turn right onto Rte 161(Dublin Granville Rd) then left onto Hig St.  If you are coming in on I71, you will head west on Dublin Granville Rd. (161) until you come to High St.  You will go to the one way st as you are north bound and turn right.

I have spoken to Worthington Police Dept and they have advised there is no problem with us using this lot to park.

There will be a funeral servie at the church going on at 10:00 a.m. and we may see some of these persons parked in the area.  So PLEASE if you are riding, keep the bikes down to a dull roar.

As Tater has written before, there will be a briefing at 11:30 and flags up at 12:00.  I will be on site from around 11:00 to make sure of any last minute problems.
