The below are excerpts from the Gold Star Mothers news letter. I thought everyone might be interested in the fact the their President and Mother of a Fallen Hero is participating in PGR Honor and Special  Missions.

The Gold Star Mother

PERPETUATING THE NOBLE PRINCIPLES FOR WHICH THEY FOUGHT AND DIED

September · October · Issue Number 124    2128 Leroy Place, NW, Washington, DC20008

From the Desk of the National President, Betty Pulliam, 󞪆-2006]

Have you ever been in a whirlwind courtship? Well I became President on July 11th, and it seems like it's been that way ever since, or would you call it a Kansas Tornado?

When I arrive home from the convention, I was met at the airport by a group of Vietnam Veterans and VFW Auxiliary Ladies with a bouquet of roses, which was an unexpected and lovely gesture.

I was in Washington D.C. for two weeks in July. On the 19th I attended the ceremony to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. It was held in the Rotundra of the capital of the United States.

I came home to attend a family reunion. On the 5th of August I did a Patriot Guard Duty at a Veterans funeral. On the 13th I attended a Patriot Guard Memorial Dedication, honoring parents of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Love, Peace & Unity, Betty Jean

My heart goes out to the Gold Star Mothers. I can't imagine a pain worse than losing their son or daughter. I hope all of the Blue Star and Gold Star Mothers know the Patriot Guard will always be there in any way we can to help and support them.

Unfortunatly, my wife gets The Gold Star Mother news also. However, she made some history of her own by being the ONLY Gold Star Mother to ride HER OWN motorcycle in 2006's Rolling Thunder, I ws right behind her being an escort (she rode on my back seat) for another Gold Star Mother. It's been almost 4 years since we lost him....

Fla Rider, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. As a casualty officer I know all to well the pain Blue Star and Gold Star mothers go through. Just remember what johnden said "the Patriot Guard will always be there in any way we can to help and support them."

Fla Rider, I'm so sorry for your and your wife's loss. There are no words that can be said to take that pain away.

John, there isn't; not that I have experienced anyway.  I guess, if there is such a thing, I'm a Gold Star Father.  My experience was a big motivating factor in joining PGR.  Maybe I can help someone else walk in those terrible moccassins.
