I am the ABATE of Indiana Region3 Director which includes Sgt. Jones home town of Kokomo.  I will be there with plenty of other ABATE members to honor this fallen hero from Kokomo, Indiana.

All of our thoughts and prayors go out to the family of Sgt. Rickey Jones.  Flags are half mast in Kokomo and in our hearts.

Going to do everything I can to be at this one.  Bike may not be ready so I may be driving the cage.  Coming from Greenwood (just south of Indy) so if anyone wants to meet up for the trip there, let me know.

First I would like to welcome all you new folks, glad to have you on board!!

cbost, they way this usually works is:

Our State Captain or the Ride Captain for that area will make the contacts necessary to perform the mission.
Once they have been in contact with the family/spokesperson for the family one of two things happen.

1. The family wants a private service, and then there would be no mission and we would see a post telling us to stand down. Then we would Not go. After all we only go as invited guests.

2. The family would like us to be there then the ride Captain will post all information that we would need to jump on the ball.

Since we have seen nothing as of yet, I would guess there is no info yet.

I hope this helps you a bit.

Pawclaw, I'm not sure what you mean by "funeral memoriabilia". I don't take and/or keep memoriabilia from any of our missions other than my personal memories of what the service man or woman has done for our country.

A country's patriotism is not measured by how high they fly the flag or how loud they sing the National Anthem, it is measured by how they treat their warriors.

Thanks, Sarge!  Right now, we just need to show up in force to Honor this brave young man and show the family and community that America considers him a hero and he will NOT be forgotten!  We'll keep ya posted on this.

I am Jerry Brown of Kokomo, Indiana and I just met and spoke to SGT Jones' grandfather minutes ago.  Tentitively the services will be on Monday March 6, 2006.  I am letting you know this so you all can plan for that day.  I am pretty emotional at this time as you might know.  We need to be as active as possible with turnout on this one as we have before.  I will have a lot my ABATE people there for sure.

Thanks to all of you.

Thank you for the update Jerry and hang in there.  We've got each other for support, don't forget that.

On another note....just a reminder.  There are other forums and threads for off topic discussions, let's make sure we leave this one open for relevant posts to the mission.  I also don't know what "funeral memorabilia" would consist of, but I don't believe that discussion belongs in this thread.
