Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understandings, With the passing whisper of their life, Their hope and their dreams. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, Leave their footprints on our souls, Their smile in our hearts, And we are never, EVER the same.

| Rob my deepest prayers are for you and your family, you were absolutely one of the finest person I have ever met, and we were friends for such a short time. Heaven is now alot brighter as you will stroll amongst heroes who passed before you.
A little about ROB Proffit, Rob lived in Montgomery a very short time, during the time he was here, the community had a Police Officer Killed in the line of duty. Rob was so moved by our community that he contacted me to plan a Memorial ride for Officer Keith Houts and for my Police Department. Rob lost his life in a terrible motorcycle accident, delivering flyers for this event, and passed in the same room of the hospital as his hero Officer Houts.
I spoke with Robs mom this morning, and she sent her thanks to everyone who shared their prayers and visited him in the hospital, and she also thanked the wonderful people of Tennessee for taking up where Alabama left off. So as you see Rob was a true American, as a veteran of the USMC, but also for his love for his community and his fellow man, and for this I salute Rob for a JOB WELL DONE. Rob I ride in your honor , my friend and I will never ever forget you. |

Rob Proffitt, 32 who passed from this life on Friday October 20, 2006 was laid to rest today October 24, 2006 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Rob, a former Marine, a Patriot Guard Rider and Scout was given a Christian and Native American service. His Mother was presented his Scout uniform which he had earned but not yet received.
The Chattanooga Chapter of VietNam Veterans served as Honor Guard at graveside with full Military Honors.
In attendance and providing escort service were the Patriot Guard, Rolling Thunder, family members and friends.
Thanks to all who stepped up and did what had to be done. Thanks to the East Ridge Police Department who circumvented rules to provide a safe escort.
It is sad to lose one of our own who gave so much of himself to others. Rob served others up to the last and though leaving, serves us still. Rob has rode his last Mission with us but leaves us a good example to follow.
May God bless his family and keep them in this time of sorrow.

We hope all made it back safely. We arrived here in Ethridge about 8 o'clock. We did stop at a quick mart for a bite to eat and to warm up a little. I grabbed a 32 oz cup and filled it with coffee. The clerk ddn't even know how much to charge for a quart of coffee. Actually it was a nice ride the only cold parts were hands and feet.
We arrived in Chattanooga a little later than we had planned to but still on time. We had forgotten about the time changing. We saw a few familiar faces but we also met some PGR brothers and sisters that we hadn't met before. Thank you for the warm welcome. Welcome to Steve, our new member out of Franklin TN, this was his first mission.
The service at the cemetary was beautiful, a combination of Christian and Cherokee Spirituality. We didn't have the honor of knowing Rob personally, but this service and the wonderful people there gave us a small glimpse of a person that we wish we had known.
The service ended when 3 doves representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were released. They began to circle the cemetary when a 4th dove was released and flew up to join them. Together, they circled the cemetary several times before they dissappeared into the heavens. Beautiful and Peaceful
Please ride Safely everyone God Bless Larry and Mary Anne |
