Things are starting to come together!!!! Keep an eye on this thread, I will post all of the details together once everhting is finalized.
Also......PLEASE get your flags ready for this parade. What better way to honor the Vets of our nation? If you don't have a flag and pole yet there is still plenty of time to get that all together before the parade. |

I've had it for about 10 years, and who knows how long the guy I bought it from had it!), I received my PGR "Mission Accomplished" pins and PGR logo pin to go on said jacket... I'm totally ready and totally psyched about this! :) |

Our initial staging location will be a The Varsity in Downtown Atlanta (The Varsity Downtown 61 North Avenue)
We will stage at 8:45 and will KSU at 9:15. The parade actually starts at 11:11 so we will get getting there quite early, however the early time is needed so that the parade organizer have time to get the parade staged properly.
One of the questions many of you have had about the parade is about cages. We will only be allowed one cage for this parade. That cage will be used for our Family of the Year, Joe and Jan Johnson. What I would like those of you who normally cage to do is the following. Please bring a flag that you can carry for the length of the parade, we will have some small PGR trinkets that you can hand out to spectators along the parade route. You will be the ones who will have direct contact with the public during the parade. The pace of the parade should be plenty slow enough to accommodate this as there will be marching bands and such in the parade as well.
Which leads me to the next issue, for those of you on bikes who have never ridden in a parade before, a parade is VERY VERY slow, please be prepared to be working that clutch hand A LOT! As always safety is our number one concern on a mission such as this
Everyone please do you best of have your flags mounted on your bikes for this event. If you have a PGR windshield banner please have it on your bike as well. If you don’t have these items please don’t let this stop you from participating.
If you are a vet, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs has requested that all vets wear their medals/ribbons on Veterans Day. I like this idea so if you have them….be proud and wear them for this event,
If anyone has any more questions please post them on here and I will get you an answer ASAP.
Thanks in advance for everyone will is going to participate in this event to honor all of our Veterans, past, present, and future.

Excellent!!! I'M THERE!!!! Got a couple (probably dumb) questions tho:
1)
You said " staging area" is The Varsity...is that THE staging area for
all the parade participants, or will we go from there to where the parade itself is staged?? If
so, for those of us cagers who will be walking, is that "walking
distance" from the Varsity, or will we have to drive & park
somewhere else from there?
2) At the end of the parade: How will us walking cagers get back to where we started from? Walk the parade route in reverse?
3)
And, most importantly: We are meeting at The Varsity -- Do I need to
bring coffee? Or should those of us who are chronically addicted to
coffee just get it from there? Might be simpler if I just have some
coffee & coffee cups & coffee fixins in my cage with me for
all, but whatever "the group" wants is fine by me. Will be happy to
grab some donuts or make biscuits or something if y'all want - just
lemme know!
|

Man Kat.....I need to start consulting with you when planning stuff like this . The Varisty will be OUR staging point before we go the Parade Staging point. Questions one and two.........lemme work on those. I have to admit, not being a cager that didn't even cross my mind. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Question 3> The Varisty will not yet be open when we are there.....so I am sure you would be everyones best friend for the day if you brought coffee. |

LOL - Did I ever tell you I'm on the Loganville 4th of July PARADE COMMITTEE???? ;) LOL! Hence why I thought of questions 1 & 2... Kinda know how this stuff works, lol.
Re Question 3: Okee dokee then -- Count on Momma Kat for coffee and (if I can get my butt outta bed early enough to do some baking) a batch of biscuits... and if I oversleep, you'll have to survive on donuts, LOL. But I'll do my best. :)
Anyone have a guesstimate of how many are participating, so I know how much to bring with me? |
