| The Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall™ is a traveling, three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Dignity Memorial® funeral, cremation and cemetery providers created this powerful memorial as a service to those who may never visit the nation's capital to see "The Wall" firsthand. The exhibit crisscrosses the country each year, allowing millions of visitors to see and touch the black, mirror-like surface inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died or are missing in Vietnam. Honoring all U.S. veterans and dedicated to Vietnam veterans, the faux-granite replica is 240 feet long and eight feet high.
There were over 100 bikes that met the wall just east of Burlington, NC. There were numerous groups represented to include the Patriot Guard, Rolling Thunder, Harley Owner's Group, Dragon Slayers, MC and several Viet Nam Vet groups just to name a few.
The group was Police Escorted to Raleigh, NC. Lead vehicles included limos carring Ray Price of Ray Price Harley Davidson and employees as well as the Dignity Funeral Home staff.
It rained fairly hard all morning. The motorcade, Dignity Wall Semi Truck and 100 bikes in staggered formation pulled onto the interstate and one bike went down. The bike was picked up by the owner and rejoined the group.
The truck went to speeds up to 70 MPH which made visibility for the bikes very limited.
The escort arrived in Raleigh to find all oncoming traffic and sidestreets were blocked by the Police. The road from Interstate 440 to Ray Price Harley Davidson was completely cleared by the Police.
Once the bikes arrived at the dealership, the bikers were treated to free lunch, coffee and donuts.
Individuals that turned in their ride waivers were given a 15% discount coupon from the dealership as well as a bandana and event pin.
Prior to the start of the ride, riders selected a route that they wanted to take. The lead group went to the NC Viet Nam Memorial logging just over 240 miles round trip.
