Good call Ed.
That's a 60+ minute drive without traffic.
Friday traffic is light, but even then, by the time you get into Fontana, it's going to get heavy and speeds will probably be down to 40 at best.
Better early than late... and if you're early enough, there's a sit-down place for breakfast at the Euclid offramp.

| MISSION REPORT
Motorcycles 35
Cages 2
42 personel.
8 first timers
0815 Met with personell from the Mortuary/Church & received final arangements.
0845 Met with Belleveue personell received exact inturnment sight and aranged for PGR parking.
0930 Arrived at the meet point. What a wonderful sight more bikes than I anticipated. Glad hands all around.
0945 Held pre mission brief.
1000 KSU proceded to Church got organized waited to form up for the Casket arrival.
1015 Formed up on both sides of the anticipated Casket path. Found out that wasan't the path and formed up on the correct path. Rendered Colors then retired to our machines.
1030 - 1120 Waited for the Services to finish.
1120 Re formed for the Caskets return. Again rendered Colors.
1130 to our machines. Positioned 3 Patriot Guard motorcycles in front of the Hearse. The 3 motorcycles repersenting a Missing Man/Brother Formation. The remaining Guards fell in behind the Family for the short ride to Bellevue Memorial Park. Patriot Guards acted as back up road guards for the Ontario Police. Along the way there were bystanders who upon seeing the flags knew that someone special was passing. There was a lady on the corner of Moutian and G street with a flag. As I passed I could see that she was very emotional. Just prior to our arival at BellevueI saw an elderld man saluting as we passed.
After we arived and parked, we formed up on the anticipated Caskets path. Then formed on the correct path. I then saw the same elderly man at the internment cermony standing far back and alone. He was shaking with emotion. I introduced myself and found out that he is a Korea Vet. I did not want this Vet to be alone so I invited him to stand with us. It was an honor to have him stand next to me.
Colors were again called and a full Military Honors were rendered. The playing of Taps is never met with a dry eye this mission was no exception. 1st Sgt Zimmerman and Candy presented Dog Tags and the Patriot Guards condolences to the family.
After the Honors were completed the Guards reassembled at our machines and disperced.
I know we do not do this for thanks however I want to share some comments I was told:
"very insperational"
"I am so proud of you and what you do"
"very impressive"
"gave me chills when I saw you"
My heartfelt thanks to:
All that participated and espically the new commers
Primo for heading up the Road Guards.
Candy for providing Coffee, Family presentation, and as acting Chappy.
1st Sgt Zimmerman for Colors and Family presentation.
Winger for the Capt arm band.
and to all that gave me counsel.
You all did an excellent job.

It was an honor to stand with the men and women of the PGR today. If a day can be beautiful for a funeral, today was such a day. Turnout was incredible for a weekday!

Was a great turn-out! It was an honor for me and Chappy to pay
our respects to the family of Spc Perez!

My thanks also to the generous PGR members that donated to the
Gunny's rehab project of her home in Yucca Valley.
Angel and I spent several hours today shoveling out the house along
with at least a dozen other members and friends.
Gunny is a PACKRAT !! The entire house was almost floor to ceiling
food, clothes and almost everything else. It is an incredible task to
sort through the stuff and save Gunny's most important momentos
and personal papers. We helped fill a large roll off dumster and it will
take a second I am sure. Did I mention that mice had taken over her house
as well as roaches and other vermin. There is MUCH work yet to be done
and my thanks to Edthelvn or Ed Finch and family for the inspiration and
sweat required to pull this off. Her pastor and friend brought us sandwiches
for lunch and drinks were supplied by Angel and others. Look for pictures
in the Forum.

I can't imagine what it must have been like for Spc. Perez's family to walk thru the Patriot Guard line and see you "guys" wearing his tag! I'm sure at some point later on they will realize that you will carry that tag with you on every other mission you go on.
It HAS to mean SO much!
Thank You SO much for what you do every day. Everytime you donate $1.00 for a memorial dog tag it provides enough money to send 2 of the Dog Tags for Kids. Every penny goes to the project. In the past 2 1/2 years over 193,000 tags have been sent.

The tags are interesting.
When I ordered my first "Mission Accomplished" tags, I had hoped that they would be big enough to make a P-Touch label with the fallen's name on the back, but they are too small.
I would love to have a memento of the missions that I have been on, primarily those for the fallen, not really for the "fun" missions (welcome home, sendoff).
Can I get tags for previous missions... specifically, Spec. Joseph Perry, as well as Bonnie's husband.

Absolutely! All you need to do is e-mail the names for the tags you need. I will compare them to the list that I already have. I will ask for info on the ones that I don't have. We color code the tags, Green for Army, Red for Marines and Blue for Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force.
Let us also know if you need long chains, short chains or no chains. Every penny we save helps send more tags to the soldiers.
All donations are tax deductable and can be made by paypal on our site or you can send a check per our web site.

Should we set up some kind of tax deduction receipt to hand out? We haven't done that before but maybe we could use the back of the project cards and just fill in the amount.
