This is a story about the young man from Prattville who was recently killed in Iraq,
Stephen Bicknell.

I recieved this in an email from a friend of mine in Huntsville...

Hi All,

I wanted to share a story from my mom about Stephen......

My parents went to Chicago for the marathon this past weekend.
They had 2 very different experiences with the military on this trip.

As they went to their plane in Atlanta on the way to Chicago, they
passed a unit heading to Germany. My dad made a point of walking
through the crowd shaking hands with as many as possible thanking them
for what they do for our country.

On the way home from Atlanta yesterday (Monday), the pilot
announced that they had 2 special guests on their flight. He introduced
Stephen and the soldier that was escorting him home. He explained that
Stephen had made the ultimate sacrifice for
our country. Mom said that
the only sound you could hear the remainder of the flight was the sound
of tears.

Not long after the announcement, a gentleman from 1st class came
back and started to talk to someone about 4 rows up from my parents.
It was the soldier escorting Stephen home. This gentleman gave the
soldier his seat in 1st class.

As they landed they were given the usual landing instructions
followed by a request to stay seated so that the soldier can exit the
plane in a timely manner. Those that fly know that as soon as the seat
belt sign goes off, everyone jumps up on a plane. Mom said that not one
person moved. She noticed that 3 men in 1st class all of a sudden got
up and started to gather their things. The soldier had
not exited the
flight yet, he was still waiting for the door to open.
Someone from the back of the plane yelled up to them to stop and show
some respect. Mom said that those 3 men, were visibly humbled. They
immediately froze where they were.

No one got up until the flight attendant thanked them and told
them that they may exit the plane or watch to observe Stephen leaving
the plane. It turns out that Stephen was removed from the plane right
under my parents window. Mom said that it was moving to see the
reverence shown by all on the ground as they realized what was going on.

As I mentioned before, there was not a dry eye on that flight.
That experience made the "thank yous" my dad shared earlier so much more
important and
meaningful.

We are truly blessed to live in such a wonderful country. God
Bless America!!!!

Glad I served as part of this ride...it meant a lot even though I was the only sportbike rider.  RIP Pfc. Bicknell.  I think the community stood up and showed they are proud of their own today!!  Thanks to all PGR members that showed today!

Thanks for the over 70 bikes that showed up, even though we were met with not the best riding conditions. I commend everyone who braved the elements either on bikes or in cages to show support of a fine hero from my hometown. As you can see this small community really supports our country, and have always come out in masses to show their american patriotism. To be able to say thank you to PFC Bicknell is a great honor, and today many of us shared that honor. Snap, Catfish, Animal and Ancient 1 and all the others who participated in all of this three part mission, we salute you and commend you for a JOb Well Done. Heaven opened its doors today on us, and reigned downed its tears, but tonight she is alot brighter as another hero joins her ranks. Thanks Stephen, you will never be forgotten.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the PGR for giving me the chance to honor PFC Stephen Bicknell.  Even though I was a cage rider, I felt no discrepencies in how I was treated.

May Stepehn RIP and his family find comfort in the Lord.  Thank you Stephen for the ultimate sacrifice.

The Mission was one that no one will ever forget. I would like to thank the City of Prattville for the Patriotism showed for Stephen, as I rode the past two days it was so gratifying to see so many citizens showing RESPECT in any way the could, form the Father saluting with his young son holding a large Flag as we arrived and the Highschool, then on the way back the cars on the side of the road, and several outof the vehicles with thier hands on thier heart. Yesterday, To the Mayor, Police Department, Fire Department, and again the Citizens who lined the streets with Flags, to HONOR this fine young HERO. The 82nd Airborne showed a lot of folks how they take care of thier own, I know it was a duty, but preformed to perfection. The Commanding Officer, with his task force, was beyound what was expected. I commend all the Armed Services for being represented, this was truly an amazing show of sending a fine serviceman to his resting place with those in Heaven.
Thank You members of the Patriot Guard who endured the weather, the very slow roll, and the hearts that skipped a beat and the Tears.

This mission was a great testament to the people of Prattville, and they all should be proud of themselves and PFC Bicknell. It was extremely humbeling to see all of the people lining the streets to say goodbye to this hero.
