Just got off the phone with Lt. Pragle, (115th)
The preliminary data from him is, that the buses should be rolling into Shelbyville Tennessee around 10 pm on Tuesday, November 21st.
I recommend that everyone stage at the Shelbyville Wal-mart (always friendly to our group) and ride out at 8:30 to the county line to await the buses. The Shelbyville Police Department is on the job and promising Escort, The Fire Department wants to join in, so the more the merrier. At the County line, everyone waits for the buses.. the LEO vehicles will lead the escort and block traffic., The Fire Units will be behind the LEOs but in front of the PGR. The PGR will surround the buses until the city limits are reached.. then a line of flag bearing bikes forms a line to bring them home. Captain Adams (Shelbyville Police) has said they are being taken to an arena and that the local paper is informing everyone to bring out their yellow ribbons and flags.
Keep your eyes peeled for any E-mails from Jeff Sanders regarding any time or staging area changes.
I'm real sorry that I can't be a captain for this ride, but my Sporty is in the shop, and it's over 225 miles from the job.
Everyone Have a good Safe Ride and Be Careful.

| Maddog. thanks for the info. Since this is a family-friendly forum, I'll limit my comment to "dadgumit!" and ask you guys and gals to say our "Welcome Homes" for us. The 19th would have been great - the 20th, good also. But late on the 21st we have to be elsewhere. So ya'll unfurl the flags, put on the smiles, and deliver as many hugs to these guys for us as you can. Catch you next mission. Ride safe. |

Maddog -
If all goes well the next few days on the home front, I plan on being at the Walmart at 8:30 pm. (Just brought hubby home from hospital yesterday, he can't get around very well yet). Let me know if there is anything I can do between now and then.

I was in Brentwood TN a wee ago for a parade welcoming five units of the 101st airborne back to the UAS. Brentwood has adopted E cmpany in the 101st and the police chief for Nrentwood took a real interest in the group and set iup the parade, lunch and a concert for them.
Why is all that important, well I saw the PGR in that parade and it motivatede me t sign up.
I have been looking for a ride for a week that is close enough t home to manage and this looks like it fits the bill.
I hope to ride with the group.
Never served but my dad was career Army, 26 years and I get a lump just thinking about the day to come when he has the last ride. |

Just wanted to let you know the details for tomorrow night.
The 1-115FA from Shelbyville, TN will be leaving Camp Atterbury to head for their final destination on their long journey home. Tentative plans are to meet at 4:45PM on Tuesday, November 21st at Mann's Harley Davidson at the Edinburgh Mall (I65 and Exit 76). KSU at 5:10 to head to Camp Atterbury. You must wear a helmet to get on base, and if you don't you can wait at the road just across from the main entrance and join when we leave with the buses. Remember, this may change so keep watching this thread. Looks like it should be decent as far as weather goes, so hope to see you there.
Time: 4:45PM Date: Tuesday, November 21 Stage: Manns Harley Davidson |

Wanted to pass along final information. We are leaving Atterbury at 6:00PM (EST). Should arrive at IN/KY line at 7:15-7:30PM (EST). Estimate that it is about 257 miles from Atterbury to Nashville so they should arrive around 9:15-9:30PM into Nashville. Hope this info helps plan.
Route: I-65 / I-24 / 231 to Shelbyville
Thanks to Tennessee for letting us be part of this Welcome Home Mission. Meeting them at the airport in Indy was an awesome experience, and it is a great honor to be able to escort them part of the way on their long journey home. |

It's 4:45 in Tennessee, and I'm sitting at work wishing I was with You Guys waiting for them.
Now I kinda know how the National People feel, do a lot of the planning but not be able to be there to see if it works. Best wishes and prayers for a safe ride tonight guys. Weather could be warmer, but at least it's not raining. Be real carefull around those buses, from personal experince I can tell you the turbulance is treacherous, especially if you're on a light bike flying a 3x5 flag. Let Ms McConnell and Captain Adams know I appreciate their help, and give the 115th a nice welcome home from me.

MISSION COMPLETE!!!
It was a clear and crisp night (in the 30's in some areas!) We had a handful of bikes brave the cold and a cage assist with the escort into Shelbyville. It took a couple of minutes to get into position, Mark Watrous and to dodge a large metal object the 1st bus hit and sent flying in his direction, luckily, he saw it coming and was able to avoid it. But once we were able to get in front of the first bus, behind the LEO's, all was smooth sailing. We had our flags flying proudly for our Hero's coming home!!
There were several folks along Hwy. 231 that waited for the buses to come through and were cheering and waving flags as we passed by. The entrance to our final destination was lit up like Christmas, lights were everywhere, emergency vehicles lined the way in. Once inside, the troops were unloaded and several stopped by to shake our hands and give hugs for the escort. I don't think they expected to see bikes out in those temps!! They don't know us as well as they though, huh!!
The commanding officer invited us to fall in behind the soldiers as they marched into the arena. That was a great honor to be asked to do that. Once they started inside, you could really hear the cheers going up for these hero's. Once they marched around and got into position in front of the crowds, a few words where said, we really could not hear too much, but when they were dismissed, that you could not miss! None of us had to wonder what was said then, the families swarmed the soldiers!! The one part of this really that really sticks out in my mind, and I probably won't ever forget this either, a young girl, maybe 7 or 8 years old, found her daddy, he picked her up and she wrapped her arms and legs around him so tightly, it looked like she wasn't going to ever let him go................ It was a picture that spoke volumes!
We received many hugs and thank you's for being there and participating in the escort. We were welcoming them home and thanking them for what they had been doing for us all these months away from their families and friends. Family members were also coming up to us and thanking us for what we were doing tonight, and what we do for the fallen soldiers also.
I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Mad dog, all the legwork you did made this homecoming a huge success!! We heard that channel 4 news, WSMV,was there also, filming. I never did see them, but several were talking about it.
I hoped everyone made it home safely, and finally thawed out!
