18 Oct 2006 7:50 AM Alert
The owners and managers of the Steel Pony Saloon (formerly the Stone Mug) have graciously invited ALL Patriot Guard Riders to their Grand Opening Celebration/Hog Roast on Saturday, November 11th, 2006.

The hog will be finished roasting around 1PM. Dan, Sherry, Molly, Scotty, and Steve wants you to stop in ANY time during the day to say Hi and grab something to eat. They will be giving away T-shirts and other great prizes.

They are ALL very proud of you and originally wanted to make the Patriot Guard Riders honored guests at their event. We were honored and humbled to have been thought of in this context, but told them we insisted that we receive no special recognition. We would be very proud to attend their Grand Opening and suggested it is the soldiers and their families who deserve the spotlight, as well as all veterans who would be in attendance. The Steel Pony is a fantastic place to meet other riders, they have great food, good friends, and huge hearts. I'm looking forward to this event.

We have several things lined up on this date, as it is Veteran's Day, but please try and show up to support this business and it's owners on their special day as they fully support us and our Mission Statement. Maybe as the date draws nearer we can get together and possibly ride in as a group before or after other events we may be attending on this day???

Ron,

Let me know where everyone is meeting to ride down and I am there. I will be coming from Osceola, In, maybe we can get a group from the South Bend / Elkhart area to ride down and meet you all somewhere.  Sorry I didn't make it to Monticello, I had some business issues come up and had to go to Indianapolis. I just started a new job in August and for right now it looks like I can only make the weekend trips until I get some time built up.

Hey Everyone! As Richard noted below, today will be a three part mission for some. Here's a quick little summary of some of the things going on this Veteran's Day, Saturday, November 11th, 2006. But PLEASE remain cognizant of any Confirmed Missions (not only in Indiana but surrounding states), as they do take precedence over any of these activities:

The Patriot Guard has been invited to escort the huge flag from Penske's Chevrolet at 96th St. & Keystone in Indianapolis to the Zionsville American Legion. There will be a special ceremony for this flag at the Zionsville Legion beginning at 11:00AM sharp. Further details are forthcoming, but for those wishing to participate expect to meet at Penske's Chevrolet NLT 10:00AM.

Some, if not most of us, will leave immediately following the ceremony in Zionsville enroute to the Field of Valor to attend their Veteran's Day Recognition Services. Jeff Hallal advised the Texas Roadhouse is providing a lunch at 1:30PM for all Veteran's prior to the Field of Valor's Service which begins promptly at 2:30PM. We can park our bikes along the road in front of the Field of Valor, just as we did on Memorial Day.

Immediately after the Field of Valor Veteran's Day Ceremony we will be enroute to the Steel Pony (64th & College Ave.) to attend this Grand Opening/Hog Roast/Dedication event. Arrival at this location is estimated @ 4:30PM.

Hope you can join us. Thanks to all, and if you can't make any of these activities on Veteran's Day, remember to do something, even if it's remembering our Veteran's in a special prayer.

Note to those with questions: Saturday, when we leave Zionsville, we will go directly to the Field of Valor. Texas Roadhouse is catering the meal on location (at the Field of Valor) for all veterans prior to the Ceremony.

I personally want to thank the crew at the Steel Pony for their hospitality. They are truly great friends and I look forward to seeing them again. It was nice seeing all of you on Veteran's Day. Thanks to everyone for making the missions. Bernie and Bruce, sorry I had to leave early. It was a long, cold, dark ride home for me. I was even sorrier when I opened up my email. I expect a Ride Report. LOL.

Email I received from the Steel Pony:

Thank all of you for coming to the hog roast, but most of all thanks for all the good things you all do.The STEEL PONY is proud to serve you, and if you all need us for anything, meetings, parties, whatever you want, just call... we will take good care of you. Thanks again, DAN, SHERRY, MOLLY, SCOTTY, and STEVE the bartender.

OK, for all the inquiring minds who want to know, here is the story. As those who attended the festivities know I left the Field of Valor and went home to get the cage and wife. The rest of you went directly to the Steel Pony. I got back up there just as everyone was saddling up to leave. We said our good-byes and Bruce decided to go back in with me andf tthe wife. Shortly thereafter Lady J and her Girlz from Lovely Lady Riders came in for a photo shoot utilizing the raffle bike. One thing led to another and we decided that we owed it to our PGR brothers to let them know what they missed, hence the photos.

Just so you all know the ladies will be at the Steel Pony every other week, beginning last Saturday, to do promos, other photo shoots, fashion shows, etc. They want us all to visit with them whenever we happen to be in the area on those nights.

Now, as Paul Harvey would say, you know the rest of the story.
