While I realize that this service is on the same day as the very large run along I-205, I encourage all to attend it....we can always ride from Point A to Point B, but we can not always show our support to the family of SSG Paul. There are family members who are arriving from across the nation and they have specifically asked that we attend this mission in memory of their soldier!

PGR represented us very well at his funeral, now it is our turn to show that the support continues here in the Pacific Northwest!

Thank you all for your attention to this mission!

We will be at this mission in memory of SSG Robert Paul. I was wondering if we could go to Clark County Fair Grounds and register and then proceed to The Dalles to attend this Memorial and then go back to Wilsonville for the B-B Que?
Anyway we will be riding to The Dalles.

SSG Paul,

I know you gave everything for your country, and I know my brothers and sisters in the Pacific NW will be honored to share in this memorial. God bless this family and God bless the PGR members who are willing to ride with honor, dignity, and respect, for those who have given all.

To my Oregon PGR brothers and sisters: I was the R/C for SSGT Robert Paul's funeral in Illinois. We had a very strong turnout for his services and despite the presence of *others* I believe upheld both missions of the PGR. The family expressed sincere appreciation for our presence as we honored this American Hero.

Our role here is done, and you have the watch. Ride safe, ride proud, ride with respect, and thank you.

Respectfully,

John

Timing will be critical but might be able to fit in both the metal and the memorial; got this from Fred earlier today:

For your other question about signing up going to the SSG Paul Mission and then go to Wilsonville, here is the latest.  The Medal will be presented at the Clark County Fairgrounds at 11 am.   In Wilsonville there will be a short ceremony at 2pm for those not covered at the Fairgrounds. Fred "Ducpho" Salanti

It will be cutting it pretty close but IF it could be arranged to get us on the road by noon, we should be able to make it to The Dalles by 1330

Will there be a coordinated run from the Portland/Vancouver area to the service? If not, please let me know when and where y’all are heading out and perhaps we can have an uncoordinated run. Regards, Cowboy

When one bleeds, we all bleed, When one is taken from us, we all feel the empty void.
In the deepest part of every true patriots heart, is a pure positive energy that so truly desires to let your family know that your loss is also our loss. I know this is not always something that can be explained by a few simple written words no matter how hard I try to use my words to embrace you in this time of your family heart ache.
With Our Deepest Regret, And Our Highest Respectable Humble Regard, We openly shed more than just tears with you. Our heart aches knowing your feeling an aching void. Our heart ache is truly in honor felt for your loved one. It will be an honor and privilege for the Trophy Club Texas Bikers to stand tall, proud, respectful, silent and mourn in silence even at a distance from the state of Texas and continue to show our support to a heart broken family, state and nation.

Tentative plan will be to stage at the same place as we did for the Hood River Mission for PO Lee. I cannot remember the name of the truckstop, though.....
I believe if we stage at 0930 with ride brief at 1000-1015 and KSU at 1030 we will be in The Dalles by 1230 and the services begin at 1330.

Let me know if this works for you....Gary Everett and I will be working on this one together....
I have already posted the address, but will get some directions to post here soon. I am not sure yet how long the services will be. Will try to find that out as well.

Thank you all that plan to go to this mission. If we need to plan any car pooling we can do that closer to the mission....I will have two guest attendees....one is my bunkie from bootcamp coming from South Carolina, and the other is the Parade Aligner coming from Phoenix, Arizona. And of course Pipey.

We will have coffee, water and flags and tape in the Bam Mobile!

Its the Flying J truckstop - the last one before getting on I-84 east bound.  Giving us 2 hrs to go from Troutdale to The Dalles sounds like you're planning to slow down to my speed!

There is another truck stop or was it just a restaurant that we were at....same exit, I believe....I like to be on the conservative side on timing so that we do not exceed the speed limit in our plan! Besides we like having you as part of the group....

The other one is T/A, about 100 yds before the Flying J and it does have a restrurant while at the Flying J, there was a small one beside it (with great food!).

Please claify "observe the speed limit" - is that the posted one or the one people like to ride???

Anybody from the East side planning to attend the service for SSgt. Robert Paul? I'll be "caging", of course, and may have (small) passengers - but I'll try to keep up!

I don't see staging points for Eugene/Springfield as of yet so if I can be so bold to post. Please send feedback if this is not appropriate. I checked 'Maps and directions' and it states 2 hours to Troutdale. We will stop at the Santiam rest area and probably Latus (?) to pick up riders. Here is what I would propose:

I5 exit 199 Coburg. T/A truck stop (restraunt next to Shell station) west of I5 on Sunday at 0645 for ride briefing. KSU @ 0700. Santiam rest area at around 0745 with KSU @ 0800. Arrive Troutdale approx 0945.

Comments or Suggestions?

I may ask an experienced rider/PGR member to lead the pack.

Rick

Post was edited by me. I took out the weather report. I kept thinking this mission was for this Sunday. It is next Sunday. Thanks for setting me straight BJ.

Sounds great Rick, run with it, my friend...

So far...we have Roper from the other side of the state

             we have Rick from Eugene

             we have Gary from Troutdale

Do we need anymore assisting on this? Of course if there are any other groups of folks coming, we would appreciate a lead person and also a contact number....we will want to have a numbers report as you roll out and an ETA. We will have sign in sheets at Troutdale. If you would please sign in as soon as you arrive, we will try to have more than one clipboard and pen available.

We may have radios to sign out, and we have them charged and ready to go....

Until the next update....
