16 Oct 2006 4:34 PM Alert

This is the final itinerary for the 2-part Patriot Guard Mission to honor 2LT Johnny K. Craver of McKinney, Texas, whom made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq. The mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made.

Visitation: Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home, 601 South Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas. Please arrive at 1530 hrs. Public visitation is from 1600 hrs to 1830 hrs. I would like to form an Honor corridor of flags for the entire period. We will relieve flag bearers every 30 minutes.

Funeral Services: Monday, October 23rd, 2006 at 1000 hrs. at the Stonebridge United Methodist Church, 1800 South Stonebridge Drive, McKinney, TX. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at approximately 1300 hrs. at the family ranch northwest of Leonard, Fannin County, Texas

Ride Captain: John (Top) Kammerer. His cell number is 972-877-3640.

Weather Report: Sunny with a 10% chance of rain. High is forecast to be 66 degrees, with a morning low of 47 degrees. Remember to hydrate evening when the weather is cool.

Bring flag poles and flags if you have them. Flags mounted on bikes would be great, but if you have to "cage" it, bring your big flags anyway, plus any extras that you may have.

Staging Site and Time: From 0800 to 0845 hrs. in the Our Savior Lutheran Church parking lot. Take the Virginia Parkway exit and proceed west for approximately 1 mile. The parking lot is just west of the church. The street address is 2703 Virginia Parkway.

Departure : All members are requested to complete the Liability Releases prior to safety briefing. The safety briefing will begin at 0845 hrs. Departure (KSU) for the Stonebridge United Methodist Church will commence at 0900 hrs. All bikes will present a uniform appearance with flags flying as we ride approximately 2 miles to the church in a staggered formation.

Please note: We will be riding about 50 miles to the family ranch northwest of Leonard after the service. We will have some down time between church and cemetery service, so remain flexible as to mission requirements during the day. CAUTION: The last 2 miles of the route is over a gravel County road. Graveside parking is on compacted clay; please bring sidestand plates to prevent your bike from toppling over.

Please remember that our mission is to honor this fallen soldier and pay our respects to his family. Stand tall and be proud as we salute an American hero.

Words fail me. I am deeply saddened by the loss of another great man who gave his all to help people he did not know! May the family know that God is near as they go into this difficult time. Their loved one is also near... in the hearts of each one who was fortunate enough to know Johnny K. Craver. Sir, stand down, the bell tolls for thee!
