It was truly an honor to stand for this American Hero.
I spoke with one of the Army in attendance, he walked straight up to me and held out his hand in thanks for our attendance and the show of respect for his Brother.
I informed him that no matter the age, the generation, the branch of service, those that put themselves in harms way for our country, are all Brothers. Commenting on how young these men, these warriors for freedom, looked, my wife assured me, that we too were that young back then. Looking back, two weeks out of High School, she certainly was right.
This was not a color guard from Ft. Knox, these were soldiers from Jason's Division. |

Enjoy your life and freedoms, for a most costly price is being paid for them. Support those that pay that price, and sacrifice, FOR US. |

Well Jason, it's a day after your funeral and I still can't get you out of my mind. I just feel awful for your Wife, Mom and Dad and the rest of your family and friends. I was proud to be able to stand for you along with everyone else as you were laid to rest. I am so sorry your life was cut so short but I know that Jesus has welcomed you into His Kingdom and that you will be there to watch over and protect your loved ones. I hope that when my life comes to an end I get to meet you and can tell you as a Vietnam Veteran Medic "Welcome Home" both as a Christian and a Brother Veteran.
Take care my Brother, Doc |
