Col. Spanton
A great man once said, "Poor is the Nation that has no Heroes, Shameful is the one that, having them, Forgets".  We will never forget the duty, service, honor, faithfulness and sacrifice you have given to our nation.  You are now in the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on.  We will not falter, We will not fail, We will not weaken.

To Julie and family
I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. (Lincoln to Mrs. Bixby 21 Nov 1864).  We will continually be praying for your family at our church.  May God strengthen you.

FOR QCA PEOPLE GOING TO THE ARSENAL; You will need to obtain a VEHICLE PASS to go to the cemetery.

Just before the Moline Gate Guard shack, take the right turn immediately after the bridge. About 1/2 block down there is a building on the left. Go inside and have your driver's license, registration and proof of insurance. (may not need the last two, but you should have them in the vehicle anyway) Tell them that you are going to the cemetery for the Spanton Burial.

For those coming up from Bloomington, this will not be needed. Simply follow the procession through the gate.

We plan on being at the cemetery between 11:30 and noon.

Ride Report    Thank you Lt Col Julie Spanton, for allowing us to show our honor and respect for Col Spanton. You have a beautiful family that I know you are proud of. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. We are here for you if you ever need anything, just a phone call away.

Thank you to the members that came Monday night for the flag line at the visitation. Weather was not on our side, rain, wind and cold, but no one complained.

Thank you to everyone that showed  up Tuesday am for the funeral, we formed a nice flag line outside the funeral home.

Todd and I lined up our bikes, with funeral home lead vehicle and then Ken's SUV with 3 big flags ahead of the hearst. We were ready for when the time came to start the escort to Rock Island Arsenal Island. 140 mile non stop escort with ISP leading us. The ISP performed a flawless escort, perfect handoffs every time, as we entered a new district.  Thank you ISP,and Bloomington Police dept.

I want to thank all the people along the route that came out to show their respects to Col, Spanton.  And the ones that made that happen. I had tears at every overpass as we made the journey to Rock Island. I will not list everyone because if i missed someone I would never feel right. Thank You

Ken , Todd Thank you for being there to help me out.

Col, Spanton Thank You for your many years of service to our country, and our freedoms. You are a man of honor . Rest in Peace Sir. We Will Never Forget !!!

On behalf of my entire family I would like to thank Brett Nauman and the Pantagraph for the articles that have been written about my husband's service in Iraq and his fight with cancer.

This community has been so supportive to us during the past few months and we sincerely appreciate all the prayers and kind words that have been expressed to us.

I would also like to thank the Patriot Guard for the beautiful tribute they paid to Dirk. He would be so humbled to know how much people appreciated his duty to our country.
