STAND DOWN,
I TALKED WITH MS. BALLIN, CAPTAIN SECHER'S SISTER ON THE PHONE.
Although she appreciates that we care, she has discussed it with her family and asks that we do not attend as a "Patriot Guard Riders" or display the flags like are our trademark. They feel that all the funeral arrangements that have been made thru the temple and the Marine Corps are sufficent.
STAND DOWN Please. |

I RECEIVED THIS RESPONSE TODAY IN AN EMAIL.
"I contacted the sister, she said you talked with her last night. We need to let everyone know to “Stand Down”.
It was not me that spoke to the family (sister) last night. I would like the person that did speak to the sister to email me. |

Another Mission Completed.
Because of the short notice (less than 24 hours), we only had about a dozen biikes.. but we made up for quantity with quality. Everyone stayed the entire length of the service.. from 11:30 to almost 3:30.
We received the thanks of many family members, the rabbi, and the congregation.
For everyone's knowledge, a jewish funeral lasts about 45 minutes at the synagoge, and another 30 at the cemetery.. However there is another ceremony that is private (family only) right after that.
The Memphis Police is now aware of our mission and willing to assist. As well, I have the contact number of a motorcycle escort company that we can use for future missions in the area.
It was a honor riding for the PGR again, Hope to see everyone at the welcome home for the 913 today at Union City |

I cannot say what an honor it was to attend the ride for Capt Robert Secher. There were only 10 of us, but to the family we were the world. Or that’s how they made us feel. I watched and I cried throughout the day as the officers who handled Robert showed how much they cared for who they held. Robert’s father came up to us twice and thanked us for being there, once before the services started and at the end as he gently held the flag that was given to him, I felt so humbled.
We even had many of the Marines thanking us for our attendance. It is not us, it is them we should be thanking for it is they who allow us to sleep at night. But yet they felt the need to tell us that they were glad we were there. What is this world that these soldiers who sacrifice their lives have to thank those that support them? For it should be expected.. but yet too many dishonor them.
I was lucky enough to meet a young man who is still currently serving his country. Art joined us for this ride, he is part of the 101st Airborne out of TN. He served both in Afghanistan and Iraq as my son did. But it goes to show how much they care for their own that he would honor those that serve next to him too. It was a great pleasure meeting you Art.
The ride from the Synagogue to the Veterans Cemetery was a long one. It was overcast, the wind blowing and cold. It fit my mood perfectly. I was numb from the tears. About a mile before the cemetery a fire station had there engines out and three lone firemen stood at attention as we went by. To me you could hear no sounds… all I could see finally was the show of support you would see in smaller towns… yes there were only three of them… but it did not matter… because someone else knew… someone else felt the sacrifice of the Secher family.
My smile grew even bigger as we approached to the entrance of the cemetery. I wish I had a camera to capture the site of the Firefighter Ladder Engine (I couldn’t tell you the correct term for this)… it’s ladder extended to it’s highest …. And hanging from the cage at the top of the ladder… was beautiful old glory… and below standing in front of the engine were another eight fire fighters also standing at attention saluting and welcoming the procession as it went by.
At the end of all the services we had several people who came up to us and asked us about our group. And we had many more thanking us for our attendance. I know I cried on one ladies shoulder as she cried on mine as we mutually supported each other over the loss. So although we did not have many, to the Secher family and friends it didn’t matter.
Lord guide this family with your strength for their sacrifice. Thank you Capt Robert Secher for the freedom you have given my family and this country. I can only hope it’s not taken for granted it could be so easily whisked away.
He stood the watch so that we, our families, and our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly and safety each and every night knowing that a soldier stood the watch. I am here to say “Shipmate, the watch stands relieved, relieved by those you have led, guided and trained.” Capt Robert Secher, you stand relieved, they have the watch!
