Due to the sudden nature of this mission, all who are participating in the services for LCpl Derek Jones have been caught somewhat off guard.
It is now our privilege to do what we do best, ride with respect and show the highest honor to a fallen patriot and his family.
This is stage 1: An escort from the terminal at PDX to the funeral home in Salem.
Future stages will develop as the family makes the necessary choices for the honoring and interment of a man of integrity who is son, brother, husband and father...Patriot and Hero.

God bless you and go before you.

I will be taking a support vehicle in the escort to Salem for this Marine....

Just wanted to post a reminder about behavior during our missions....

Please remember to observe dignified behavior. This will include the handing over of your flag if you wish to smoke, go to the restroom or taking a phone call (although cell phones need to either be off or on vibrate) hand your flag to the person next to you or ask for someone to take your place. A good rule of thumb is that if you would not have done the action in uniform, or in formation, you really should not do it while standing on the line with the flag.

We appreciate the support that the family is receiving in this time of grief. It is an honor and a priviledge for us to be invited to attend and serve these heros and their families.

For those who cannot get to PDX in time, we should be coming past the Keizer exit/on-ramp at appx 9:20 to 9:30. You are welcome to fall into line BEHIND the escort, just don't run over the Bammobile. Pat will most likely make room for you.

At the funeral home we will very quietly dismount and form a line to "present arms" to this fallen patriot during the transfer. We will then be dismissed, stage 1 accomplished.

Thank you,
God bless you.
