Bob n' Lu,
I'm with you on this one. At this point, doesn't look like many will be there.
I remember how touching it was to see the many PGR members show up for my dad's funeral and he was just one veteran who served in Korea and was not killed in action. This event is for all veterans in all wars whom was killed. Shouldn't we make an effort to show our appreciation for the sacrifices these men and women made serving our country?
I recall another time when the last of the P.O.W.'s came home at the Lemoore Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California. There was just a handful of us there to welcome them home. No ticker tape parade, no show of gratitude for the nightmare they endured, no applause. I was not only ashamed of my country for it's lack of support for our troops, but stood there and cried for these poor men that were nothing but skin and bones whom had no proper welcoming home.
It is my hope and prayers that more make a showing for this event than what I'm seeing now.

Mary Ann; One thing you'll see quite often on these threads is " NEVER AGAIN ", It means just what you described in the vietnam POW return. We VOW - NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!
I am sure there will be many who find , at the last minute , that they can make this mission and will show up in force.
Gary; With a 6:00 AM gathering time and a 6:30 AM departure time ; there will be little time for coffee , etc. The 6:30 AM departure time will have to be met in order to make the staging in Fayetteville. We will strive for a 65 MPH speed on the interstate.
If anyone needs info on group riding - we can go over that at the Monday evening meeting at Ft. Smith American Legion Post. This meeting is just the PGR and ALR bikers ( And Gary makes good coffee ) the BS gets kinda stale , so need some fresh from Y'All. C'mon over to the Monday , 6.00 PM meeting !!

Bob,
Thanks for the info. As you know I'm new at this and don't know many things. But shoot, I don't know anything anyway so that's nothing new. LOL
Dragon,
Actually, I didn't know you'd be there, that's good to know. |

We have an opportunity to make this a dual mission. There is a veterans hospital and a veterans rest home just a few blocks from the Fayetteville Square where the parade and dedication will be held. We are invited to visit the veterans rest home to cheer up the patients ,and give us a lift when we have the opportunity to thank them for their service and add a little exitement to their lives. The administration says the veterans like to collect military patches. Lets all try to scrounge up a patch or few to take along ??? They might even get to see an old friend patch - who knows. There is a possibility that a few can visit in the hospital also.
Please guys and gals ; let's make this a joyous occasion for them. After a lunch break following the parade we can go the short distance for these who have gone so far for us !!

Since this is my first event with PGR I will probably have a few questions over the next few days. Right now I have three guys that ride with BACA and they want to be part of this. Do they need to fill out the release form? If so I have it printed out at work and will make copies for them to sign and bring them on Sat morning if that is alright. I will also be talking to the Priesthood and see if I can get a few of them to participate as well. If anyone has anything they need me to haul down there (and will fit in a Mini Van) for Sat morning call me 479 871 8245 and I will come get it this week and have it down there for you on Saturday. It is a honor for Kari and I to be abel to do our part for our Veterans. We are also proud and honored to be part of the Patriot Guard.

Deacon,
The PGR welcomes all that want to participate. Forms will be available to those not yet having signed one and/or you can bring them. At this time, everything is pretty well under control and really appreciate your offer. Thanks for taking the time to show your patriotism. Final details will be posted Monday and as of right now the weather looks very favorable.

When entering on Rock Street off of 71B go to next corner, turn right and go to Mountain Street. We will stage on Mountain Street which is a one way going east, so please turn on Rock Street and come around the Federal Building. This is for bikes only. All cages will stage in the parking lot of the Federal Building as previously stated. We will have folks there giving directions. Please allow a little extra time as this area will have a lot of traffic
The Veterans Hospital and Nursing Home has very enthusiastically accepted our request to visit them Saturday after lunch. Again, please allow a few minutes to visit these vets. It will be an experience you won't soon forget.
Thanks to the folks bringing coffee. Greatly appreciated. I will find out if there will be a porta potty there for some who may need it. No names given out on this forum

This is Armymom1 Mother of fallen Hero Spc. Jeffrey Shaffer and my husband and I will be there for this dedication. Inalene Skelton the lady who has headed this project pick up the phone and looked us up by calling information just to personally invite us. We are honored to go and honor her son at this living memorial. She ask us if they could honor our Jeff and I gratefully said yes. We are from Waco, Texas and we lost Jeff on Sept. 13,2006. He was killed when during combat his Bradley he was driving hit an I.E.D. We have been members in Central Texas for a while now and have made several rides one being Jeff's best friend Spc. Brett Tribble who died 4 days after they where transferred from Kuwait to Ar Ramadi Iraq. Jeff's Dad rode lead at Jeff's funeral along with my brother it meant a lot to us to be surrounded by our PGR family. We have already made arrangements to make it to this dedication hours after Inalene called. She is a special lady and I hope that there will be a great turn out to honor her son and all of our fallen hero's and to thank her for her hard work she has put forth in this memorial. However we will be caged and probable not able to enter the parade we only have a gold star service flag (small one at that) and a purple heart magnet but if we can figure something else out we will parade. We will also have Jeff's little brother with us who is 6 years old another good reason to cage. hahaha ! Lisa Adams forever an Armymom1 |

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of this fine young soldier. My heartfelt condolences to you, your family and friends. If you accept, it will be an honor and pleasure having you lead the PGR formation as Fred requested.
If the items ordered come in beforehand, I will gladly loan you one of the PGR magnet signs to place on your cage.
