SPECIAL MISSION

John "Armorbearer" Fisher, Patriot Guard Rider from Georgia, notified me of the passing of his mother, Mary Fisher of Speingfield, Missouri on 06 Oct 2006. Mrs. Fisher, the wife of Col. (Ret) John Fisher, USAF, did the hardest jobs of all: wife and mother in a career military family. Armorbearer reported that his mother was a strong supporter of the PGR and our Mission, and he requested our presence at her memorial service.

Mission information:

Ride Captain:
Cliff "Mug" Hall

Date and time:
14 Oct 06 at 1200

Location:
South Street Christian Church
500 South Avenue
Springfield, MO

More information to follow from Mug.

Armorbearer, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. Know my prayers and best thoughts are with you and your father.

Our deepest condolences to Col. John Fisher, John (Armorbearer) Fisher, and their family and friends.

I had met Mary at Springfield during the Monday flag run when she came out in support of the PGR. She was battling cancer but was there to support us. I am thankful I had the opportunity to meet her & let John know that although our meeting was brief I was saddened to hear of her passing and was thankful to have the opportunity to pay our respects. With the help of Strechnit & Ruffy we have 144 flags to man on the flag line. I hope to show the same support this family has shown the PGR . I will be in Springfield, Wednesday to check arrangements, ect  and will post that evening..

My condolences to the family and friends of Mary Fisher. May God grant you comfort and peace in your time of sorrow.
Those on the homefront also serve. My thanks for her patient sacrifice while her husband and son served.

Lest I keep my complacent way, I must remember that somewhere out there a person died for me today. As long as there must be war, I ask and I must answer: Was I worth dying for?

I send condolences to the family and friends of Mary Fisher. I know what a mother, and wife goes through, when you have a husband and sons in the service. Mothers and wives are made to be strong in cases such as those. God Bless you Mary for all you've done.

Sorry, Cliff. I'm a No Go for this one. Not only do I have to work Saturday, but, Sunday as well.

The flags are still yours if you have someone that can get them. I'll do what I can to help from this end.

Ok folks we will form our flag line on the south side of the church from South Ave. to the covered walkway and from the covered walkway east to the alley. I will begin setting up flags at approximately 9:00 am. with John "Armorbearer" Fisher and his brother and would like to have PGR members lined up with flags along the covered walkway by 11:45 am. As there will be no escort, we need to park on the south end of this parking lot to leave ample room for family and friends. I want to thank everyone in advance for your participation.

My apologies for getting in here so late.  Tried to access the site from Missouri on Sunday and couldn't get in.

I wanted to offer my sincere thanks for supporting my family this past Saturday.  The presence of the PGR was greatly appreciated.  My father made a few remarks during my mother's service and gave great praise to you all for being there.  He, in particular, wanted me to convey his thanks and appreciation for not only being there for us but for what the PGR does every day for our nation's military servicemen and women.

Having never been on this side of a mission, I want to let you know the feeling of security knowing you were there is hard to describe.  I can not easily articulate the comfort and appreciation of your presence during our time of great loss.  Thank you so much for all of your efforts!  It means more than you know.

Brother Cliff, thank you so much for all your effort on our behalf.  I know you put in an awful lot of time on this and it meant so much to my family.  Thank you, my friend!  By the way, my wife refers to you as the "Gentle Giant."  I think that is most appropriate as well.

Brother Big Dog, thank you for keeping me so well informed after I made the request.  You are much appreciated sir!  And thank you for placing this mission in the most capable hands of my new friend Cliff.  He did an outstanding job!

Thanks again to all of you for being there for us.  Your time away from your homes and families meant a great deal to mine.  God bless and keep each one of you!

With much love, respect, and gratitude,
John Fisher
