From the time our families first met, through Little League baseball and the teen age years, you have always been loved. It is my proudest honor to escort you home and to your final resting place. You will always be a "HERO" to me. May God bless and be with your family always!

FINAL RIDE REPORT
This mission was very special to me. It began last week with a phone call to the Payne home. As I spoke to Carol I felt a closeness and a welcome attitude that made me want to know this young marine better. And after talking to his father,Howard, on the phone, I knew this family was special. I then did something I rarely do. I went to visit the family. They only live 15 minutes from my home. I was greeted by Howard and instantly felt welcome. I asked about Brad and was pleased to see that Howard had a faith in God that helped him know where his son was at that moment. We were joined by his little sister who shared her feelings about her "big brother". She will miss him a lot. During this visit, we discussed PGR's function at the service. I told Howard that we would escort his son from the Montgomery airport to the funeral home. In other words, we would see his son safely home. Then as all good plans, things changed. Brad's arrival was changed to Thursday night late at Birmingham airport 100 miles north. So Catfish, Don from ICVMC, a family friend of the Payne's, David Montgomery, and myself left at 7:00 pm with Jackie and David from Leaks Memory Funeral home. And brought Brad home by 2:00 am. With my luck, it rained most of the way back, but we didn't care. A promise was kept, with the company of eight young Marines,we brought Brad home. Saturday morning broke clear and beautiful and Linda and I and Nick ( who had spent the night ) left to begin the mission. We were joined by over 100 PGR members. We escorted Brad from the funeral home to the church with the help of The Montgomery PD. We then left with a small group to escort the family to the service. We were met back at the church by an honor line of over 80 PGR members. The service was beautiful and moving. The pastor invited Linda and I back to attend a service there. We will go. We then escorted Brad and his family to the cemetary. We were protected by over 15 motorcycles from the Montgomery PD. Thanks guys. The graveside sevice was beautiful and at the end we presented Brad's wife Erin the PGR plaque and the mission flag to his little sister Katherine. After the service we were honored to have the whole family walk the line and greet us. It is a measure of this family that at this moment of grief, they thought of others. To the Paynes, Thank you for allowing us the honor to serve. You are now part of the PGR family. It was an honor to meet you and have you share Bard with us. He is an American Hero of a special kind. God bless you all.

Snap-
It was so noce to meet you and the guys while attending the funeral of my boyfriend's best friend "CPL Brad Payne". It was a very very hard funeral, but it was so nice seeing you all there. I got your's and Ancients card and will be in contact with you all soon to "ride along" with such a fine group in the future.
My boyfriend and I went back out on Sunday before we departed town to lay an arrangement and flag at his grave site. I have attached a picture.
Many thanks.
