Folks we got another 300 marines coming in to March Air Base tomorrow (Tues Oct 10) at 1000.
Just got off the phone with them, and they apologized for the short notice
they asked us to be there to escort these 300 marines from March to 29 Palms.

The bird is supposed to land at 9 AM
The buses are scheduled to leave at 1130 (they started the paperwork already).

If you can make it please post here,

Meet at 76 gas station across from March. at 1000.

I have asked the mods to remove post  regarding a homecoming mission tomorrow. We do not have the people available to make contact within March to find out what's going on after we get there. We will not know which buses to lead, when they're coming, etc. On Saturday, they had buses pulling out for 29 Palms, Pendleton, & Yuma. Had Roland not made contact within the base, you may have been in for a long ride to Arizona.

Thanks,
Joe

Did something stupid today... I now have a bruised forearm & grade 2 sprain of left wrist...will have a splint on wrist for about a week. I can't ride for a while so I'll have to settle for being there in spirit... maybe someday I'll learn not to rush jobs around the house... hope to be back in the saddle in a few days.

Well we did it guys. WE were able to meet these Marines at Dillin rd. and hwy 62. All 2 of us, ha ha ha . We were quite buesy doin road guard and escort duty with only 2 of us but it was quite a show.

The Marines were great and got such a kick out of us ridding with them. They were takin pictures as we rode, altho I really think they were more interested in the lady in red leathers, ha ha ha ha .

Thru town people were shoutin, honkin, and welcomeing home the Marines with flags. It was nice to see it . We didnt encounter any Police escort or hinderence, thank goodness.

On to 29 palms and on to the base. As we rode into 29 palms a Marine on a motorcycle joined and rode with us. At the base there was no MP escort so we roled up to the guard shack and told them the Patriot Guard was escorting home their Marines. At that point the MP asked if I had some type of id that I didn't understand. Then another Marine said to the Marine that was questioning me , "their Patriot Guard, let them thu, their OK" so off we went.

At the armory we were able to get handshakes from each of the Marines that passed by in single file. The lady in Red Leathers (Lavonne) got all the hugs tho, ha ha ha ha .

I must say that it was very rewarding to have been able to be there for them. The Marines that were in charge of all this said they were sorry that wires got crossed , becouse we didn't have enough notice to do it up right. They promissed to do better next time. They thanked us over and over for our small escort. All the Marines were so thankfull for our participation, the Patriot Guard is becomming well known , even in IRAQ.

I have once agin been blessed by thoes that man the front line of freedom.

Ed and Lavonne,

Thank You both for your efforts in this short notice Escort.  You two are the best.  I know Both of you and I can say with out a doubt you both are true American Patriots.

Hopefully this won't happen again.  I'm going to talk to both the Marines and Air Force to see if they will give us at least a 72 Hour time frame for future Escorts.

With all the contacts that must be made we need to secure all points and make sure the PGR Riders that show-up are not waiting and also make sure these Hero's get the right Honor they deserve.

The behind the scene inquiries is very active and must be done with efficiency and be very accurate on the schedule so everyone is not waiting needlessly.

Ed "Sparks" Carrillo and Myself Roland "Pegleg" Marchand will do as in the past, to make sure all contacts are made and everything in-line before a Mission to Welcome Home the Troops is posted on the PGR Website.

Also if anyone hears of a Welcome Home Escort that is needed for Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard please notify Joe Gigglo.  That way Joe can contact either Sparks or Myself of a pending Escort.

Remember anyone can be part of this but must also be willing to be there from start to finish and make sure all contacts are made before notify Joe.

These Hero's deserve the best we can give them and also the Welcome Home most of us never received.

Thanks Again your brother Always,

Pegleg

Hey Everyone,

We need at least a 72 Hour Window to get these Escort off the ground.

I'm Glad Ed, Lavonne and Doc. T are doing it.  But it's not from March Air Base they are meeting them  On the 10 and 62.

If you want the whole Mission from start to finish we need to know who is telling everyone about the Arrivals so we can contact the People in Charge.

We Need the Unit, How many,  and coming from where so we can put together a Escort.

I was told by the Base Sgt. Major.  they have Marines Moving all the time so Please if you here something Get in touch with Joe and he can rely to Sparks and Myself.

We can't gather and notify everyone and make contacts with only a days notice. A complete Mission takes Longer to get running with only a 24 Hour Window.

Steve Rieger puts these out so if he has contacts he needs to let us know his contacts so we aren't trying to figure out who is in Charge.

Come on Steve don't make it tough on us !  If you hear something either schedule the whole ride or tell us what and who we need to contact.  Don't throw it out there and think we know what to do.

Come-on Brother at least give me a break.  I 'm physically not able to run around like most people and doing it this way puts a lot of pressure on me and then it looks like am doing nothing.

Also if anyone hears of a Welcome Home Escort that is needed for Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard please notify Joe Gigglo.  That way Joe can contact either Sparks or Myself of a pending Escort.

Hey Everyone,

Here is why we need to have a 72 Hour time slot.

From: BIKEROMA
Subject: 20TH RIDE

There were three of us at the staging point (76 station outside main gate, March) on the 10th. What happened that no one else was there, do U know. I want to be on the ride the 20th, hopefully this time with a greater number than three. Please keep me and all the rest posted as you get the info. Thanks, Dene 'BIKEROMA' Dale

It was posted by a Member about a Escort on the 10th and because there was no contacts made Three PGR riders were waiting at the 76 Gas Station and Cactus outside of MAB.

If we don't get a handle on this and verify before posting others will show up and nothing will be finalized.

Pretty soon no will show because they won't want to sit there for no reason.

Please let's make sure the Escorts are cleared and the Officers at both bases be contacted so we will have everything needed to pull it off.

Next time it might be you and how frustrated would you be waiting for nothing.

I love you Guys and Gals and don't want you waiting for no reason when I know you have other priorities that need to be taken care of.

Your Brother,

Pegleg
