Ride Report:  What a excellent mission this was.  When they arrived at Kickapoo and his wife to be walked by me and only said hi ( I had already called Gary Schrock at his location and told him the package had arrived) and then the three of them walked inside the shell station.  I went in and walked over to Jeremiah and thanked him for his service to our country and also the other soldier with him and kept them in a conversation. I then went outside and as Jeremiah walked out of the door of the Shell station, Gary and the rest of the PGR came around the corner right up to the door with noise of pipes and horns. Jeremiah face got all red and his mouth fell open and have a few tears come down, His wife to be told him that this was his welcome home escort and just about his whole family was their in the escort also.  The other soldier had backed up inside the Shell station and did not want to come out as all he could see was bikers.  I brought him out and told him that this was for him also.  They both were very overwelmed.  Channel 8, 19 and 25 were also their and done a excellent job in coverage.  Dave Greenlief had done another one of outstanding jobs and had fire trucks on overpasses as we went on our way to Knoxville.  Fire Trucks joined in as we got closer to Knoxville.  People in Knoxville were lining the streets to welcome these soldiers home. Upon arrival at Jeremiah home Channel 8 was also their and did a outstanding job of coverage. Gary presented Jeremiah and the other Soldier each a American Flag that had been flown on this mission.  Tom Godfrey and myself presented Jeremiah a United States Army Flag that Tom had flown on several missions.  At this point Jeremiah broke down again and hugged me and Tom and over and over said thanks.  This was a very emotional time for all the riders to see such a turn out for these soldiers.  I wish to thank each and every rider and every person in a cage that was a part of this escort.  We then were all invited to sit down on bales of straw and have one heck of a fest with two fires going. The family and community welcomed us with open arms and I will never forget this escort. Illinois Patriot Guard Riders you did yourself proud on this one.  Thanks to all

Max, Gary, and all PGR involved,

Thanks for being there and representing all of us who couldn't make this mission.  What a warm feeling you must have had inside seeing these 2 men overfilled with pride and appreciation.  I could only imagine how they felt when they walked out and saw the PGR (and heard you) and how all of you felt when you saw the look on their faces.  Sorry I wasn't able to attend, but reading your report-----I felt like I was there.  Keep up the good work and thanks again!!!

Any pictures you can share??

People WOW, WOW, and Wow not really any other words to descibe this one. Having been involved with this from the get-go I felt I new Sully very well, till I did meet him. What a wonderful kid with a huge heart. I personally shed many a tear of happiness. His whole family was great and made us feel like part of the family.
When we thundered into station he had no exit as we completly blocked him with bikes, cages, and wonderful people. Everyone of the family rode with us from park to station. Then Jeremy and Kristen, saddled up also.[ Thanks to everyone who took a passenger.] We had an uneventfull ride[ which is good] with approx 30 bikes and who knows how many cages.
Poor Jason the other soldier that came home with them he didn,t know what to think. At the house he was talking about how he heard of PGR but didnot know we done this kind of thing. People we showed what a multi-faceted group we are. Sully, Jason we are so Honored to be able to be a part of your lives, thank you for what you do. Because of you we able to write, ride and say everything, with the FREEDOMS we enjoy every day, most people never stop to reflect on that. THANKS ARE NOT ENOUGH.
Thanks to Max and Chris for trying to keep up with actions and posts as they unfolded,Rod,Tom, Bill and Pat for being our road blocks. Everyone else who helped in any way,Kristen thanks for keeping this a secret. Knox County for the excellent escort, Knoxville P.D.,Knoxville Fire Dept, and Brimfield or Oakwood Fire dept, Great job people. The manager of the Shell at Kickapoo. [ we blocked the pumps for a few minutes which I apoligzed for, and she said great this is more important than getting gas right now, we moved away very quickly so not to interrupt there bussiness to long]. Thanks to All the news media this was great press. I also understand the channel 25 in Peoria is doing a special on PGR, the gentleman that rode with us is putting this together from different footage he has shot at several missions, can't remember when it is to air. Thank You everyone, Sonya, Grandma and everyone who helped with weiner roast. And thank you Knoxville. Dave Greenlief, Max, I love you guys, you guys go above and beyond to help when called on.
People what every one has done here makes my role so much easier. Thank You,THANKYOU.
PGR you done it with HONOR and RESPECT. GREAT PIPE SHOW ALSO. Bear you need a little louder pipes to keep up with Illinois.

Folks, this was a great ride!  The little bit of chill I started to feel between Kickapoo and Knoxville quickly disappeared as we pulled into Knoxville and saw the Welcome Home signs and people waiting for Jeremiah - it truly warms the heart and soul to see how much people care for one another.

My older son was the photographer in the white shirt climbing on the light poles and sitting in the breakdown lane taking pictures.  We must have about 150 pictures of the gathering in Kickapoo, so if anyone can tell me how to upload them to the photo gallery on this website, I'd be glad to do so.

FYI, I believe the WEEK Channel 25 news story on PGR will air at 10:00 PM on Oct. 27th, and again at noon on the 30th.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes Cowboy I need to get me some winter riding gear, so I can take the bike on these cold long rides. My buick or old man’s car, as mama bear calls it. Is very quiet. I am just about done putting the new engine in her grandprix, but its quiet also. But in that buick I was toasty warm, and was able to let Jeremiah wear my leather jacket as he rode.

What can one say about the town of Knoxville. The outpouring of sprit and patriotism is alive and well there. So many people lining the streets, waving flags or just waving, clapping and yelling thanks. It was a joy to behold.

Thank you, Sullivan family for letting us be apart of this. And many thanks for the food. If you went away hungry it was your own fault.

Jeremiah & Jason it was very nice meeting you both. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done.

Welcome home Jeremy and Jason.

Thank you for your service to our country.

I hope I can see you both soon.

Jeremy, congradulations on your upcoming wedding.

Is there a flag line in the works for the wedding?

If the family gives the OK, I would be honored to help recognize this local hero.

If I understand it correctly, Jeremy has been wounded twice while in Iraq.

Kristin, thank you for sharing this brave young man.  I'm sure your support means the world to Jeremy.

Sonya, I am so happy for you.  Thank you for raising Jeremy to value Duty to Country.

Sonya, Jeremy, & Kristin, you are a great American family.  I thank you for your sacrafices.

Sincerely, Jeff Baumgardner
