I just recieved a call from Kristin and they left Ft Bragg at 12:30 pm as planned. They told me they estimate arriving home around 5 which means about 4:30 to the Kickapoo exit. This Mom is so excited, I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight! Max, I will call you with updates as I get them. Kristin said she will call when they arrive in Illinois.
Thanks so much! Sonya (Mama Sully) | |
UPDATE: 17 OCT 06
HOMECOMING MISSION FOR SPC JEREMIAH SULLIVAN, 23, KNOXVILLE, IL - 19 OCT 06
According the latest info, Spc Sullivan will be coming in on 19th at approximatelty 3 or 4pm.
Staging will be as start at 1:30 pm, with kickstands up when the ROAD TOAD calls (when he spots them at truck stop).
Also they will be bringing a friend along who served with him. I guess this guy really doesn't have much if any family, so he is coming home with him.
The Kickapoo exit is Exit #82. The Shell gas station is the big one there. We are asking as this a surprise that everyone please meet at the park in Kickapoo. Straight North of the exit, one quarter of a mile. This exit is 5 miles West of Peoria.
We will have LEO escort from Kickapoo to Knoxville. From staging to Knoxville is only 37 miles. Will keep up as info gets to me.
Anyone thinking of coming down Rt 150, the bridge between Brimfield and Kickapoo is out. All other routes are fine. This is alot to ask for with the information we have had, but should be a lot of fun.
Thanks, People

Remember weinie roast after and enjoy the company.

| The Patriot Guard Rider will ride into Knoxville, IL to honor Spec Jeremiah Sullivan. A 23-year-old Knoxville soldier, Jeremiah, suffered shrapnel wounds to his arms and legs when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Mosul, Iraq.
Spec. Sullivan, an Army paratrooper in the A1-321 Field Artillery Regiment based out of Fort Bragg, N.C., was in the gunner's position of his Humvee. An improvised explosive device detonated just after the vehicle drove over it. Shrapnel came through the Humvee, grazing Sullivan's left leg and arms and deeply wounding his right leg.
Sullivan is the son of Sonya Smith of Knoxville and Scott Sullivan of Industry. He is a graduate of Knoxville High School and is engaged to Kristin Hillery of Knoxville. The couple will be married in October when Sullivan returns from Iraq.
As stated this to be a surprise, the plan is to stage at Kickapoo Park. This is about a quarter of a mile from Interstate 74, just out side of Peoria. We are going to have a point man at the truck stop to let us know when they stop. When they arrive, we will ride in to circle him and Kristen. She is in on this and will inform when they cross IL/IN border.
When talking with his family, they too want to ride in escort if someone will let ride.
Let me share one quick story about this hero. When he was in high school he weighed 350 lbs. In order to join the Army he had to lose over a hundred lbs, which he did within months. He also was played college football. After he enlisted, he was the pride of the Drill Instructor because he was in such good shape. We have seen pictures of this young man and what a story before he got to join.
The evening we escort him home, everyone is invited to a wiener roast at his mom's house in Knox. She stated all the neighbors are biker friendly and would love to have us.
