We have 2 chase vehicles. Mine will act as communications to phone each location as we near them. I will be starting in Sibley and picking up another support vehicle with a trailer there. We should know who the ride captains are at each location and how many in each group soon, and give me a cell phone number so I can call ahead to each of them. I will take care of the Sibley location and will be there at 6 pm. at the Pronto station at the South end of town. At the last I heard, Hwy 60 starts four lanes just South of Sibley so we can form in behind the Worthington group and up in front of the buses and continue on four lane to LeMars. If you need to contact me, my work phone is 712-722-1181 ext. 120 until 5 pm., my cell phone to call tomorrow is 712-441-2894.

The forcast is slowly improving. Last check the precip is no longer in it. Hope there is plenty of hot coffee and chocolate along the way though as it's still going to be pretty cool. Barring any last minute issues, I plan to be on the bike in LeMars about 3 o'clock to catch the ride up. CYA tomorrow.

Maybe I'm getting old, or I'm using the better half as an excuse, but we will be caging it. We plan on meeting everyone in Worthington, MN and escorting the troops back to LeMars and after the festivites returning back home to Amboy, MN.

20 Oct 2006 9:28 PM Alert

Is any one doing this welcome home ride in a 4 wheeler from LeMars to Worthington back to LeMars? Got a issue with getting 2 soldiers who are home already on a medical, up to the bus to get the welcome home they deserve, plus a little catch-up time with their compadres. If anyone can spare room for 2 give me a yell, 712-540-3782. We'll make arrangements. Thanks
As you can see, Tamijo is organising for the Des Moines homecoming. Thanks Tammy. Hope to meet ya sometime. To everyone that is doing either trip, dress warm, drive safe and have a good time.

Sounds like the Des Moines sector is not going to go so well. From what I hear its been raining all morning. But I'm sure between tamijo and the Des Moines ALR, they are going to have a considerable flag line at the Armory to welcome them back. At 36 degrees and raining, I'm not sure if I'd venture out on my bike either. Not so bad if you run into it, but if you start out in it, thats another story. Good Luck to the Des Moines area on their Welcome Home, and I know they'll do it right.

All I have to say is WOW! and THANK YOU !!

What a wonderful Saturday night we had in rural America and I am so very honored to have been able to take part in it!  Yes - Patriotism is alive and well in NW Iowa!

THANK YOU to:   The LEO's who gave us the escort, the many people who were standing all along our 70 mile ride in bone chilling temperatures (everytime I was starting to get cold - you appeared on the horizon to warm my heart with patriotism and gratitude and remind me of why we do what we do!), to the people of the LeMars community for giving our HEROS a welcome home that will never be forgotten and must never be forgotten, to the great bunch of PGR who showed up to brave the cold or offer support in their cages - it was great to get to spend the time at the truckstop visiting and getting to know you !!!, to Dave for getting my truck and trailer from Sibley to LeMars to save me a COLD ride home  ... so many to thank but most of all

THANK YOU TO THE 113TH - WELCOME HOME !!!!!!!

GOD BLESS !!!

I posted the pics I took in Shutterfly. Sorry but the cam doesn't do so well in the dark (or was it the COLD?)

It was cold. It was late. It was AMERICA. Red, White, and Blue AMERICA. It is hard to put into words what it felt like to welcome home the brave warriors of the 113th CAV. I know that their homecoming assured them of how much America appreciates what they have done to spread freedom to the oppressed.

I also know that it showed the world how great AMERICA is. To the people who lined the streets in LeMars, to the families and friends who packed the High School Auditorium, to LEO’s who led the way, to Firefighters with their shiny rigs and soaring Flags, to those on the overpass in Sheldon, to the people that turned out with their flags along the road in Sibley, Alton, and to the small groups standing at several crossroads on the route to LeMars, to my brothers and sisters in the escort, to the all the folks across this great land that support our troops in whatever way they can, and most of all to the troops of the 113th CAV, along with their brothers and sisters-in arms, both past and present: YOU ARE AMERICA.

It was a special mission for me because in addition to welcoming home the present troops of the 113th CAV, I was riding in honor of my father who joined D Troop, 113 CAV in 1940 and was with the unit when it was called to active duty in WWII and my mother who was an Army Nurse and a true hero in the WWII Battle for Saipan.

GOD HAS TRULY BLESSED AMERICA

What a great ride. Cold but wonderful. The ride to Worthington was quite cold and the time waiting for the guys was well spent warming up and meeting some of the other riders. I checked the temp when I got home, it was 35 degrees. The ride back to Lemars was absolutely wonderful. Thanks to all the Law enforcement and Fire depts that lined the way along with friends, family and grateful Americans at almost every overpass. You sure made it a little warmer for me. We welcomed my Nephew Spc Gaul home so it was a little personal for me. Words cannot really describe the feeling after seeing all the support from everyone. Patriotism is alive and thriving in Iowa.

Does anyone know the condition of the lady that went down in the gravel? She was quite a trooper and I wish her a speedy recovery. My wife helped care for her while we directed traffic and waited for the ambulance to take her in for a check up. Hopefully her knee was not to bad.
If anyone has a few pictures of the bikes in Lemars or Worthington I would appreciate an email. My digital camera was experiencing cold weather issues. Send a few to Johnharley@usa.net please.

Thanks for the opportunity to attend this Homecoming.

It was cold, it was windy, it was dark, and we were late. But it was well worth it. Been on a few missions, and by far this was the happiest one. Thank you to everyone that came from near and far. Thanks to the LEO's, all the towns for their support, the fire depts, the chase vehicles, the women who corrupted my son and Joe on the trip up, and most of all to the 113th CAV. you guys are the reason why we do the things we do.
The trip up was miserable but the trip home was a pleasant drive. A little chilly on the fingertips and toes, but didn't really notice. Everyone did an excellant job. Thanks to all. Welcome home 113th CAV.
And Thank you SGT Sesker. Keep us a spot on Fiddlers Green. We and the 113th CAV will never forget you.

This is Debbie (BB) This is to Tommye We will never tell who corrupted who I was one of the corruptors he he.  That morning Gary (Buzz) asked if I was going to ride me being a wimp I could not handle the cold, but when Gary told me that two Soldiers needed a ride to Worthington MN I was excited to do that.  When we got the word that they still needed a ride I got on the phone and got a hold of Teresa  (aka Mrs Rambo) we were both so honored to be a part of their home coming. With out freezing our little butts off. I would like to thank both Tom and Joe for their courtesy and kindness to my son Joseph. He now knows what being patritic means and can now do his paper on the subject. He was so excited that they both signed his cast.. I would like to thank all the men and women who are and have served our country for our freedom that we have today. WELCOME HOME 113th.
When we were bringing the troops back to Le Mars Teresa and I were on the brink of crying seeing all the  blue light over the Hwy. and seeing all those people with their flags made this the most heart warming experience I have ever had.
Thank you for letting us be a part of something so wonderful.

Hi, You don't know me, except for the fact that I am Corey Thorne's Aunt.  I
don't know if you guys realized it or not on Saturday night, but on the
Hospers by-pass, Corey, my brother & family, my sister & family were all out
there with the firetruck holding the flag and Corey was saluting the
returning soldiers.  She commented on Sunday, that it was exactly what she
needed to do.  You see, Corey has been in Fort Hood, TX since Sept. 21 and
droved through the night to get home very early Saturday morning.  She was
so excited and I just wanted your group to know that Corey was there in her
own way, to say "Thank You!" to both the arriving soldiers and the Patriot
Guard.  If you could let them know, without saying my name, how much they
have meant to Corey I would appreciate it.

In Christ,

Thought I'd post this for you all, we've touched someone else besides the troops coming home
