A credit union rep delivered the cards and notes they've received with donations.
I will be passing them along to Snap, who will get them to Mrs DeMoors.

We have additional anonymous donors who have stepped up with offers to
cover the difference between what is in the bank and what's needed when
the time comes. The outpouring of support for this family is amazing and
comes from across the nation.

"Americans doing what is right" says it all.

Lt. Joseph deMoors and so many other of our great warriors.

"The hero is one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by."

Over 16000 members. Most don't ever post messages but quietly do what they can.......

"I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something.
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do
The something that I can do.

Some of us have become hardened over the years. In my case like others here it was VN.
Then came the PGR and the "MISSION."

"When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that it's bottomless, that it doesn't have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth and gentleness is there, as well as how much space."

To grant this fallen hero's wish is the least we can do.

I am so proud to be a part of this group of men and women dedicated to doing the right thing.

Butch

Butch,
Many people have said many things on this post. It has been one of the most rewarding things in my life to be part of this effort. But man, you've said it best, and from the heart. The balance today is $3010.00. That about knocks it in the head. Job well done to all. Now all we need is for Vendella settle on a date and we can ride. This will the best possible mission for all of us. As she has said, most of our missions are sad, but this one to re-unite a father and his son, will be a joyous trip. I wish all of us could be there, but really, we all will be.

Balance this morning in the account was over $3200! OUTSTANDING!! The PGR Brothers and Sisters have stepped up to the plate again. We have additional commitments of funds and services that will ensure that the entire mission is carried out with the respect, honor, and caring that befits bringing father and son together to rest in eternity. Thank you each and everyone. When the date is set, the PGR family will be notified, and your attendance will be invited.

Just reading this thread for the first time. What an awesome way to honor someone who came from Canada, not ran to it. I work for an airline at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Int'l Airport and would be happy to assist in any way I can with the travel situation for the family. Feel free to contact me any time. God Bless you all.

Ace,
After talking to Vendella deMoors, with the time frame of her re-locatng to Ga and the kid's school, it looks like the first or second week in August. We will try to pin it down to a exact date soon. I know many of you want to be there for this. By the way, his parents and other family friends are going to be there from Canada.
Thanks to all who have helped with this.

Hey folks,
August 4th is the day o celebration. Someone said earlier that they imagined a little boy running to hold his daddies hand. Vendella and her children have talked it over. They want no more saddness. This will be a joyous day. I've got the details started, just plan on the 4th. There will be food and drink and happy music. Please all come and bring your families. Let's escort this little boy to his daddies new home. Ga PGR, You will escort the de Moors family from Peachtree City to Columbus at the funeral home. From ther a BIG convoy to Ft Mitchell.
More to follow. Just mark your calender and plan to be there.

I am really glad I found this in time. This is what makes this country so great.

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat

To those who care so much and have been following this trip. As I write, the movers are packaging Vendella and the Kid's uo for the move to Ga. She will leave Ft Carson Col on the 27th. She will keep touch on the way. And Linda and I will visit as soon as she get,s here.
So now I need your help. The day of the ride is August 4th. All those who plan to attend need to sound of and let me know. I need an approx count by the end of next week. Vendella and the kids have talked and decided that they have had enough saddness, this is a happy day. Gabriel is going home to be with his dad. So if you can make it, sound in and let me know. The original crew will meet Gabriel at the airport, then we will form up at the Walmart nearby for the escorted ride from there to Ft. Mitchell Nat Cem.
Let me know as soon as you can.
