19 Feb 2006 9:30 PM Alert
ATTENTION UTAH AREA PGR MEMBERS....The final itinerary for this mission is as follows. The initial staging area will be the parking lot of the Evans-Earley Mortuary, 574 E. 100 S., Salt Lake City, Utah. Staging time is 0530/0545 hrs.. Kickstands go up and the entourage will leave the mortuary at 0600 hrs. The route will be westbound on 100 South to State Street, northbound on State Street to North Temple, westbound on North Temple and merge onto I-80 W and exit at the airport exit. When the entourage hits airport property we will be escorted by two Airport Police vehicles to the parking lot at the Delta Air Logistics building and park there. Only the four honorguard members will be allowed to proceed further. They will be transported in the police vehicles and escort Gabriel from the DAL onto the tarmac and to the aircraft where they will carry him on board. The main group will remain at the DAL lot until they return at which time we will bid farwell as a group to Gabriel and wish him a very happy reunion with his father. The Utah Segment Mission will terminate at that time and we will leave the airport. All riders will be required to sign a Rider Waiver Form prior to leaving the mortuary. All riders are encouraged to fly flags from their bikes, and all are reminded this is the beginning of a happy and rejoicing time for the deMoors Family. Let's make Utah Proud, and the PGR Proud of what we are doing.

It's not the destination, but the journey.

For those of you who didn’t have an opportunity to follow the thread, Lt. DeMoors was a Canadian citizen who wanted to become an American citizen and defend our country.  He accomplished both of those goals.  He died in January 2006, defending his adopted country and was laid to rest in Alabama.  We, as PGR members, were honored to play small part in paying tribute to this young man and his family.

The story doesn’t end there.  Bill “Snap” Lines filled me in on the rest of the story.  Joseph and Vendella deMoors had a baby boy born on Christmas Day in 1993, and little Gabriel was the light of his father’s life.  On Valentines Day in 1994, at the age of less than two months, Gabriel died of SIDS and was buried in Utah.  Joseph had always told Vendella that when he died, he wanted Gabriel to be buried beside him.  Vendella simply does not have the funds available to do that.  Here’s where “Snap” stepped in.  When he heard this story, he talked to Vendella, and, simply put, said “I think we can make that happen”.

The PGR family has taken the deMoors under their wing and can now "make this happen" Mrs deMoors is in the process of finding a new home and getting ready to move with her children to the fine state of Geargia. With the kids getting out of school and the move, she feels that the first part of August is best for all. Lt deMoors family will be coming down from Canada and other family and friends from all over. Many of these folks were unable to make his funeral so this will be a joyous occasion for all of them. We have friends in Salt Lake City to help with the dis-interment and transport. I will post deails as the date approaches.

Once more, I want to tell you how much your fantastic response has meant to the deMoors family and to me as your brother. I have been privledged to become a friend of this extended family and am constantly inspired by their love, their patriotism and their courage. I look forward to Demitri deMoors riding on the back of my bike to the service.

Until then we will keep the account open. Vendella deMoors has stated that she would want any excess go into a college fund for her children.

If you’d like to help, here’s the information:

Maxwell Federal Credit Union

PO Box 244040

Make checks payable to:

"The deMoors Fund"

On the back where you would endorse a check write:

"Deposit only in Acct #297257-10 for deMoors re-burial”

Once more, I am so grateful and proud to be counted among you, the PGR family

Proud to be here

ITINERARY FOLLOWS

We are now just three week away from this wonderful celebration and all the players are finally in the game.  I appreciate everyone's patience and hopefully everyone can understand the time involved coordinating, 2 Cemeteries, 2 Funeral Homes, 2 Airlines, 3 Airports, 2 Color Guards, 3 staging areas and 8 Police Departments in 3 states.  Some people have needed more time to get back to me and confirm than others and I didn't want to play the "I hope maybe it could work this way" game.  I can now give everyone some details that can be used for planning.

At 8:30am on the 4th of August Gabriel de Moors will depart Salt Lake City Utah on Delta Flight 410 on his way to be reunited with his Father.  Oldgoldstar will coordinate the escort for Gabriel from the funeral home to the airport.  The Great State of Utah and PGR from surrounding areas will send Gabriel off in an awesome way.  A very special flag is currently on it's way to be attached to Gabriel's casket.  A symbol of Lt. de Moors escorting his son to his final home where they will rest together for eternity.  Staging information for this escort will be posted by Oldgoldstar, Utah RC.

Gabriel will arrive in Atlanta GA at 2:22pm and  transfer to Delta flight 4104 (Operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines) for his trip to Columbus GA.  Gabriel will be greeted in Atlanta by PGR along with both a Color Guard and Honor Guard.  PGR will be present with American Flags and the Color Guard will have flags from all five branches of service.  The Honor Guard, which will also act as casket bearers will consist of veterans from all five branches of service.  Each a team member of Atlantic Southeast Airlines.  Gabriel will then depart Atlanta at 4:15pm and arrive in Columbus GA at 5:13pm.

The de Moors family will have a special escort from their home to the airport in Columbus GA.  This will be a very small escort with GA State Patrol and a very few PGR.  This escort must remain small by design so information regarding this will not be posted.  The few riders have already been contacted.

Upon arrival in Columbus Gabriel will be greeted by his family along with PGR.  The PGR members selected by Dinky Dau will be waiting on the tarmac when the aircraft arrives.  There will be two rows of motorcycles chevroned to create an aisle with the hearse at the end.  PGR will be stading in front of their bikes with flags waving as four PGR carry Gabriel from the aircraft to the hearse through the flags.  Once everyone has mounted up the escort for Gabriel to the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery will begin.  The procession will leave the airport and travel west down the Airport Thruway passing the main staging area at the Wal-Mart.  The main body will join the precession there and continue to Ft. Mitchell.

For planning purposes, everyone who has not been assigned to a specific stage will meet at the Wal-Mart on the Airport Thruway across from the Columbus Metropolitan Airport.  Stage will be at 4:00pm with an estimated KSU at 5:30pm for the escort to Ft. Mitchell.  The reason for the longer stage time is the anticipated number of bikes.  We are expecting numbers in the hundreds and it will take some time to line everyone up for a smooth transition into the escort.  The ride will be about 35 miles plus the return so be sure to have at least 75-100 miles left in the tank.  Top off if you can.  There are a number of places to eat on the Airport Thruway within a couple of miles so arrive early if you would like.  The only thing that I am asking is that NO-ONE, other than those who have been assigned come to the airport itself.  We have been gratiously allowed to be there for Gabriel's arrival by the Chief of Airport Police with the understanding that there will be a limited number of bikes.  I cannot allow anyone to betray that trust.  As much as I know that everyone would like to be there to greet Gabriel, this is a time when everyone must display the integrity and honor that PGR is known for.  I know that I can depend on all of you to honor this request.

The Reunion Celebration at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery will be one to remember.  Mrs. de Moors has a very special time planned and I know the family is excited about everyone who will be there.  I'm sure there will be laughter and tears, joy and sorrow and I feel wonderfully blessed to be a small part of the amazing mission.  I have never been more proud to be an American and a member of PGR.  You are the most incredible group of people I have ever been assiciated with and I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can.

Local stages for travel to Columbus will be handled as usual.  In Atlanta, stage information will be posted by Roberttga.  Please everyone, ride safe and God Bless you all.

Jeff, Waldo and Snap. Thanks much for getting this up and running. Have already made a check out for $100.00 and will send it in tomorrow to begin the process of collecting the money needed to make this happen. As for Snap, I'm sure that RC will agree that this is an Alabama mission and I'm just as sure that he would be as proud as I to ride behind you (Ride Captian) in ln the procession as we travel from Columbus to Ft. Mitchell. We will begin early soliciting names for this ride and we will try to make it a big one. I will notify everyone in my address book along with the rest of the clubs. Let's make this a priority and lets see if we can raise this money in a big hurry.

Just something you should know. I have been talking to Mrs deMoors about every week. I guess an old f**t like me makes a good big brother. Anyway, she has been following the threads and your words have given her joy in a time of sadness. She and her husband had talked about his burial with his son before. She found a tape with his effects. But when she tried to watch it at that time it was just to hard and she turned it off. Well, this weekend she watched it all the way through. She was able to see the good things he did for children and his service to God through his actions. Then at the end he talked to her of the possibility of what could happen, then asked her that if there was anyway, he wanted his son buried with him. She told me that to hear those words and then realize that you folks of PGR were makng it a reality, made it seem like a miracle from God. She cried as she talked to my wife and I and said" your missions are full of sadness, this one will be full of joy"
Just thought you should hear that. I love you all.

If someone can get ahold of the account holder and have them establish a Paypal account on the internet at www.Paypal.com linked with the debit card of the account it can happen, will take about 20 Minutes of time and will be much faster than snail mail, think you will see a difference in the speed of making this dream come true...

I have mine at Keesler Federal linked this way so I know it can be done...

They May See the good you do as self-serving. Continue to do good!

They May See your generosity as grandstanding. Continue to be generous!

They May See your warm and caring nature as a weakness. Continue to be
warm and caring!

For you see in the end it is between you and God and it never was between you and them anyway!!!!!!!

Here is Canadian Friend.

I wanted to thank ALL of you that helped put this together and thank everyone that is participating.

I did not put my comment before now because I've been pretty sick with a bad flu and has been operating like a turtle on the Internet this past week or so.

I'm spreading the word around here and will do my best to get some Canadian friends to participate into this fundraiser.

I often speak with Lt. Demoors widow and she is so touched by everyone's kindness, love and support. I am proud to be a Patriot Guard member from Canada. I may not be rolling on a bike, going to services with you guys but you certainly have all my support and I'm spreadin the word here.

I must thank personnaly Snap & Dinky Dau for keeping me up to date while the whole thing was getting setup.

Snap, thanks for all the updates and the phone calls that still up to this day, you are making all the way here, In Canada. It is an honor to know you.

Thank you
