16 Feb 2006 4:03 PM Alert

This is a confirmed mission. Earlier on Friday I asked that this be moved to the confirmed mission section.

I have received a very pleasant email from the family member I spoke to today. They appreciate the things the PGR accompishes for our fallen Hero's.
The family does have an early request to make from the PGR prior to the service's.
The family would like the PGR to provide escort from the Knoxville Airport back to their home. The flight arrival is scheduled for 1:33 p.m., this should most likely all take place this coming Sunday.

The family have stated they would love for us to be part of the funeral procession, by escorting the hearse from the funeral home to the church and then the burial site. This ride is approximately 10 miles through the most beautiful countryside in TN. AT THIS TIME THERE ARE NO SET DATE OR TIME (Wednesday or Thursday) The current plans are subject to change but they are wanting visitation from 2-8 on the first night and to hold the funeral at the church the following day at or around 11:00 a.m.
Lets serve this family well. Show our Respect and Honor. We need to make this soldier Proud and Kick Ass!

Not that it matters how far, but I checked Mapquest...is this in Scott or Louden (county)?

I have spoke to the family this afternoon. Their feelings are they would be glad for the PGR to attend. At this time there are no known arrangements set. Family members are leaving this Sunday to travel to an Air Force Base to wait the arrival of Cpl. Washam, to provide escort. This escort process may take until Tues. of the coming week.
I will be contacted by the family once arrangements have been finalized and learn in what way we as the PGR, will be allowed to show our Honor and Respect for this Hero.

This one sort of hits home for me. I served with 3/6 back in '67-'68 at a Navy Corpsman. I'll be watching to see if I can attend this one. If so, I'll be traveling from Birmingham.

Huntsville Tennessee is 3 hours north west of us.   We'd like to make the ride if there is no schedualing conflict.  We are due to leave thursday late evening for the Southern Cruiser's ride to Savannah Georgia for the Savannah Invasion Rally.   If services for Cpl Rusty L Washam is before that, we will attend.
