There is a short notice mission posted on the website for Marvin Vosika in
Rapid City, SD, for today, Sept 22. We have developed adverse weather
with heavy rain and 40-50 mph winds predicted. It has already been raining
during the night.
This mission involves riding about 30 miles up the interstate in open country
and would be a dangerous ride due to the wind.
Therefore, please show this mission cancelled due to adverse weather.
I hate doing this, but feel it necessary for the safety of our members.
The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to participate in the funeral service for
Marvin A Vosika. Marvin is a combat veteran from WWII and Korea and is retired
USAF. He passed away on Sept 15. The mission is on Friday, Sept 22.
The funeral service is being held at the Kirk Funeral Home at 1051 E. Minnesota
in Rapid City. The Home is located about 1/2 mile west of Campbell (Hwy 79).
Our staging point is a parking lot across the street from the funeral home. A link
is provided below showing the location. The funeral service itself is starting at
10 a.m. and the procession will be leaving the Home by 10:45 a.m. There will be
a Pennington County Sheriff escort and we will be following the escort and leading
the hearse. Please bring your flags to fly during the procession. We will be traveling
up Elk Vale Rd to I-90, then up the interstate to the Black Hills National Cemetary
near Sturgis.
I know that not a large number of us will be able to be there because this mission is
during a weekday, but I request that if you think you will be there, please reply by email
or call me at 255-5860 and let me know, just so I know what to expect. There will be at
least three of us there so far. The family knows it will be a small number of us, but they
know that we are riding to respect our hero, not to put on a show.
