Aaron,
First of all God Bless You and Keep You Safe!
Second, kick ass and take names! Make those streets safe! Cause brother this 50 year old Grandpa of 10 is coming in January to help you! I'm gonna play in the sandbox too! You and the boys need to straighten things out over there! You have a couple of months to do it before I get there because I'm a bigger and slower target than I used to be. LOL See you soon! I'll be proud to shake your hand!

Aaron, I'm not going to be able to make it to your sendoff, but wanted to tell you how very proud of you I am. It takes a special person to service his/her country and your one of those people!!!!!
Please be careful, listen to the "oldtimers"(people who have been in country for awhile) and get you butt back here so we can have another party to welcome you home!!!
Make sure we get an address on you, so we can keep in touch.

God Bless,

I would like to say Thank You All once again for making this happen. I look forward to meeting all of you this evening. There might be a possible addition to this evening. Our Senior Vice Commander's son, SSG Billy Wooten has just returned from his second deployment to Iraq and just got back in town yesterday. He is w/ the 101st Airborne @ Ft. Campbell Ky. Hopefully his father will be bringing him down to the VFW Post this evening to "get his picture taken" and be there when you arrive.

Thanks again.

CavVet21, I believe this is going to be one of the best evenings we in the Patriot Guard have had in some time. I am really looking forward to being there. Our soldiers NEED this type of recognition. I thank everyone involved for making our presence possible. I was ready to leave an hour ago, I wish we had set it up for Noon today! LOL!

Chief and Lobo, outstanding job!  Thanks to everyone who was able to make it, even though I do not know everyone's name.  This was my first mission with Indiana, and I was floored by the outpouring support.  The pictures that my wife (Kelly) took tonight have already been developed and delivered to Aaron.  Now he will be able to show everyone how we do it up in Indiana!  Once again, thanks to everyone and I look forward to seeing you all again!  If anyone has pictures, or would like the pictures that I have from tonight, please let me know....

Lobo, excellent job! Everyone who attended Aaron's surprise Send-Off tonight... Thank you! Forrest and Eric, thank you for all you did. If not for you we wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet this fine young man. Nor could we have met his family or good friends such as yourself. Everyone at the Fortville VFW were most gracious and welcomed us as if we were family. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait till someday when we can see each other again.

Forrest, I'd appreciate a few pictures. Could you possibly email them to me? I'll post them in this Forum for everyone to see. Thanks.

Aaron – again God bless you and keep you safe. It will be my honor to ride with you again in 12 – 18 months.

Chief, Lobo, Plank and Eric – a fantastic send off, you guys ARE the best!!
Lobo - I don’t believe we gave up anything, this was an honor. From laughter to tears to laughter again, there is no way I’d rather spend an evening, than seeing off a true American Hero.
Chief – What a tribute letter!! Can you post it here for all to read?

God bless – see you all on the next mission!!

Respect,

DNR

PFC Aaron Hooten, the Patriot Guard Riders of Indiana are most grateful to you for many reasons. First and foremost, thank you for your service to our country. What a man does and displays to others is the truest form of character. Putting on that military uniform and fighting for this great country of ours is the noblest thing a man or woman can ever do. It proves you have dedicated your life to saving others. It proves you have become a person of honor. You are unselfish, have great devotion to love of country, and have earned respect above all others. Earning the respect from others is one of the highest achievements one can be given in his lifetime. Doing the right thing because it IS the right thing to do is difficult for a lot of people. Nowadays some of the younger generation, and older ones, too, I might add just doesn’t get it. They want everything handed to them because they feel they are owed something. They feel that America is supposed to take care of them. What these people fail to realize is it is men like you that take care of America. If not for great heroes like yourself, there would be no America. There would be no liberty, no freedom which allows us to do what we want and think what we want to think, and no opportunities which allow us to raise our children and grandchildren in a free, God-loving society. I know you don’t consider yourself a hero. You think you are only one person, no different than anyone else walking down the block, but you are a hero whether you like it or not. If you have a problem with that we’ll take it up in the alley out back. (I’m laughing, of course!). You don’t have to win the Medal of Honor. You have already earned it. We pinned that on your chest the minute you finished your enlistment oath. You became that hero when you raised your right hand and swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; and bore true faith and allegiance to the same.

Aaron, we are very thankful that we have been given the opportunity to meet you, shake your hand, hug you, and give you our words of appreciation in person. We in the Patriot Guard Riders do not hold anything back. We hope you are not overwhelmed with our display of gratitude and affection. Please take it the right way should you see tears roll from some of our members’ eyes. We’ve seen many things in our old lives, but times like this we’ll cherish forever. You now have hundreds, if not thousands of new family members. We love you like a brother, and some of us love you like a son or grandson. We will forever keep you in our daily thoughts and prayers. I and the rest of our members will be counting the days until we see you safely return home. Take care, and may God Bless you, all the men and women in uniform, and the United States of America. We love you man.

Respectfully,
On Behalf of all Patriot Guard Riders

There was a brief article with several pictures from the send off on the front page of yesterday's Greenfield Daily Reporter.  The editor said that next week (Thursday) their would be an article in the Fortville Reporter.  If anyone would like to see a copy either paper, let me know....

What a great ride.  Good folks, on-the-house drinks and the pride of meeting one of our heros.  Aaron, good luck, my young friend, stay safe & God Bless.  Maybe we'll do it again when you come home.  Enjoyed the dinner after and the usual laughs.  The ride home was a bit windy but gave me some time to reflect.
