Hi everybody.  I know this is not the PGR mission, but I have a request.

I am Pa. Army National Guard, out of York, Pa.   We are currently in Iraq, and will be home in @ 1 month.

The soldiers in the unit would absolutely love it if you could help "escort" our buses from the airport when we get home.  I have heard that there will be a police / fire escort, but from talking to they guys, it would mean more if it was PGR.

Like I said, I know this is not mission, and you can't promote this as PGR, but any participation would be greatly appreciated.

We do not now any details yet, so I can't give any.

Please, if someone "in the know" could let me know if this is possible or not, I would appreciate it.

Thank you for your support, and everything you do.  When I get home, I will be right beside you.

I just realized that this might not be the right thread to post this in. If not, please move it to the correct thread, or I will repost it elsewhere.

I appreciate the support.

I would surely like to participate. My son just returned from Iraq. He is in Wisconsin Army Guard and I was fortunate to be able to be in Wisconsin when his plane landed. I was with his wife and two kids.

This was certainly one of my best "moments" being there in support. Can you keep us in the loop as where and when. I know the "when" can be fluid but immediate family have a hot line to keep up on schedule.

My son was extremely pleased when they landed in Maine to refuel how the people welcomed them home and treated them with food, cell phones, hugs, etc.

I am hoping that PGR riders can get behind this.

We should shower these brave soldiers with our thanks and respect. Our organization should also honor those who have been there and fought for US. If not for them we would all be riding camels instead of scooters. If I can fit it in I will be there.

SSG Downey,

Do you have any update on when you may be shipping back home?  As a fellow PA Army National Guard soldier, I would be honored to participate.  Hopefully all is well with you and your unit.

Be safe and I look forward to seeing everyone return home.

Hey Guys!!

Thanks for the responses. As of right now, there are no details. We are still unsure of where we will come in to . It will be either H-burg, or BWI. Once we leave here, we have to de-mob in Ok for a few days.

The date is also up in the air. We are anticipating between 15-17 Oct. As soon as I know, I promise I will let you know. I will also give whoever is in charge, my wife's contact info as a POC on the ground in Pa.

Thanks again!!

Tess, we'd never forget our Marylanders!

I'm thinking this will be designated as a Special Mission once we get a date. If so, I'm hoping it will appear with the other "Welcome Home Rides" on the Home Page, bottom-right. In the mean time, maybe a new topic in the Maryland state forum so that y'all have a heads-up?

Zinobile,

I emailed you my wife's contact info as a POC on the ground.

We still do not have any details, but the date range is still the same as I mentioned above.

Thanks

This Monday, 10-16-06, 3:30 p.m. at the Harrisburg International Airport ... our Guardsmen will be arriving home !!!

A group of riders from the Soldiers Angels Riding Club and one of the Military Veterans' clubs will be waiting for them there at 3:30.  Don't know exactly where at the airport yet, but they shouldn't be hard to spot.

I just got a call from Ssg. Ken Downey's wife inviting us to join the escort.  Trying now to get this into Ride Captain Kip Hamilton's hands so that we can make contact and coordinate with the Soldiers Angels & Vets.

Short notice, obviously ... so ... call your friends and let everyone know, OK?

Updated information:

The Guard Unit's Public Affairs Sgt. is very happy to hear that we may join the escort.

Escort riders are assembling at Harrisburg Int. Airport at 16:00 on Monday 10-16

Plane should arrive around 16:45

Departure to York should commence between 17:00 & 17:30, about a 40-mile ride.

PA State Police will escort all the way.  York F.D. will probably meet the group on Rte. 83 near York somewhere.
