ANNETTE: What time will we need to be there in Nashville? I will probably be spending the night around Murfreesboro.

LYNN: Duane and I are looking at trailering our rides down to do the welcome home parade on the 10th, then this one on the 11th. If you want a ride, you can choose between two comfy rides, and both riders have experience 2-up.

JOHN: are you gonna chime in on this one or not son? If you plan to ride with us, we will need to make sure the trailer will do three, unless Anthony is coming down too.

Norm

I am finalizing the times now for both missions (10th and 11th), should have times posted soon.

Lynn - not sure we can do both on the 11th, last I heard we have to be in staging around 0900, but am waiting on conf.  Not sure how far that campus is going to be from where we will have to stage.

I am planning on making both the 10th and 11th as is Anthony guys.  Talked to sunfire and he said he may have access to another trailer and Anthony wouldn't mind pulling it at all if we need additional bike space, and his Dodge is a double cab so we could haul a few more buts in addition to the bikes, looking forweard to seeing y'all again.

Just a suggestion, but the VA Hospital is not far from where the parade is supposed to be, and with it being a weekend, there shouldn't be many cars in the parking lots.  Plus they have tier parking & "it's free"..... here is the news article on it:

Nashville Veterans Day Parade

Description:
grand marshals will be Major General William R. Cotney, assistant adjutant general of the Tennessee Air National Guard, and singer, songwriter, actor and Army veteran Jerry Reed; among the entries will be veterans from some 15 veterans service organizations, military, motorcycle clubs, ROTC, JROTC units, Scouts, Sea Cadets, Shriners, Young Marines, high school bands, re-enactors and public officials. Info: Fred Tucker, 865-6946, 969-8196, or Ed Evans, 429-0342, 872-8978
Location:
starts East on Broadway from the I-40/65 bridge (South Loop) to Third Ave.
I understand that, however, there will be lots of traffic, and several roads shut down so folks that do work down there on the weekend take other routes.  We are going to be staging around 18th or 19th off West End and will have to be there around 0830-0900 to be lined up, not to mention make sure everyone who is planning on riding or driving gets to the staging area.  For those that want to try the VA 1st, and are planning on being in the parade, please let me know, so if something changes before you find us, I can try to get you to the location.

I know there will be no way for me to do both, I plan on being at the staging area early enough to check us in and make sure we have ample room to set up.

I was planning on being in the parade, but another duty has come up.

A Bartlett Tennesse Mother of a Marine Killed 01 Jul 2004 has asked for our assistance in running a Memorial 5K run on Veteran's day to help gather money to start a Scholarship in her son's name. I'm only too glad to help. If anyone in the Memphis Area thinks Nashville is too far, please consider helping in Bartlett TN. (a suburb of Memphis)

You can find the 5K run on the Tennessee Regional and Special Mission Forums.

I'll ride with you later guys

This is now in Special Missions

Final Itinerary for Veteran’s Day Parade, November 11, 2006, Nashville, TN

STAGING AREA: We will be staging between 17th Av. N. and 18th Av. N. off West End Av. 0900-0930. I will be there around 0830 to get us checked in. Uniformed National Guard Personnel will be assisting in the parade line up. Cages are welcome at this event, so if you are driving, have your flags flying also!! When you arrive to the area off West End Av., start looking for 17th Av. N., I will have someone up there to point you in the right direction to find us.

Coming into Nashville, you will take the Broadway Exit off I-40, if you are coming in from the WB you will turn left onto Broadway, coming EB you will turn right onto Broadway. There is a Shell station about 2 blocks down on the right, 17th Av. N. runs beside it.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. If you get misdirected that morning, call my cell phone listed below; I should be able to get you to us. Staging is near where I work, so am familiar with the area.

PARADE: The parade kicks off at 1100 CST. Parade Assembly Area begins on Broadway at 14th Avenue & extends out West End to18th Av., N. The last group to pass the review stand will be around 12:30-12:45.

AFTER THE PARADE: At the end of the parade, I have reserved an area at Logan’s Roadhouse for any and all to eat and get to know the rest of their PGR family, and to celebrate our one-year anniversary. I am going to try and get a head count once everyone is there so that I can let Logan’s have an idea of how many of us to expect.

RIDE CAPTAIN: Annette Robeck (Dreamcatcher) will be the RC; you can reach her via e-mail or at (615) 974-3046, if you have any questions.

Please have flags flying if you can!!

Would appreciate any and all riders for FUN this mission. Ride/Drive safely!

dreamcatcher - Change of plans - we will be able to do the Nashville parade on Saturday, after staying over from the Brentwood Welcome Home on Friday. We'll see you guys, flags on the cage ready to fly, at the staging area (West End @ 18th or so) around 0845 Saturday morning. And please add 2 to the headcount for Logan's or wherever after the parade - it'll be great to sit down and break bread with other PGR folks.

Glad you decided to stay over. I am hoping to bring an "Air Force Antique" when we come down. Heh, heh, heh... I'll pay for that one, for sure! Looking forward to seeing you Bill.

Lynn
Yeah, he said he was gonna "hook a sister up"... with Duane though, I wasn't sure he didn't mean to the electrical outlet!

Hehehe, see ya then!

Ride Report

The rain held out for us today!  Temperatures, in the low 40's with winds 10-20 mph, just a might chilly sitting still!!

We had an awesome turn out for the Veteran's Day Parade, 41 bikes, 2 cages.  There were some riders out of Clarksville that rode with us, and a couple out of Franklin.  Thank you to our new friends!  We had a couple of new members in attendance, welcome again to our large family!

The first of us arrived a little after 0800, half frozen, but for the most part dry, a couple of our riders rode in from Gladeville, TN (staying there with friends, one was actually from east TN, the other one from Hop-town, KY) they hit some rain on their way to Nashville, thank goodness the rain did not follow them!!  The parade started at 11:00, and we were at the end around 12:30 or so.

There was a real good turn out of folks to watch the parade, a lot of stoping and starting, but the crowd really loved the bikes and flying American, POW/MIA, and PGR flags.

Thank you to the members that road in from KY, east TN, west TN areas, I hope everyone arrived back home safely.

After the parade we all went to Logan's for some warmth and food.  The put us in the room with the fireplace, and was it a welcome site!  I actually started feeling my fingers again after a while.

It was very nice to celebrate both Veteran's Day and our 1st Anniv. with brothers and sisters of the PGR and some new friends we made during the parade.

I want to thank everyone that was able to come out and participate in honoring our Veterans.  It was really a fun mission for all!
