Stand Down. The family will hold services in TX and CA later in 2007 (currently planning for Dec of next year). It is the current intent of the family to invite PGR, at a later time, when final arrangements are finalized, next year.

A simple verse for this hero:

Soar now like an eagle in the sky, as over all you’ve known you fly,
Soar up and into the light, Heaven’s gate is now in sight

Enter the fulfillment of your belief, where there is no sorrow or grief,
Safe now from all that harms, rest in God’s loving arms.

Not sure why this casualty is listed as from Almeda, CA when she is in fact from Waukesha, WI. Anyone check into this to see if maybe her location is a typo in the original DOD news release? Just curious.

Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. 1st Class Merideth L. Howard. You will not be forgotten. Thank you for your service to our country.

Today's San Francisco Chronicle article reports that Sgt. Howard was a native of Corpus Cristi, TX, and resided in Alameda, CA for some time before moving to Wisconsin with her husband. I share the sense of loss with our countrymen and women in Wisconsin and Texas.

God bless and comfort the friends and family of St. 1st Class Merideth L. Howard.

. . . . . standing by in Alameda, CA should we be allowed the honor of attending services for Sgt. Howard.
