It was a pleasure being on this mission. It was also great to see a father bring his young son.
I took some pictures today. Most of them are of PGR riders. I tried to take some of the troops as they were lined up, however they didn't turn out. I am hoping Tami posts the link to her photo album.

I am so glad to see such a nice turnout for this send off.

Tami & Keith ( XO Major Roleff) are very nice people. I spoke with Tami. I let her know that we thought it was an awsome day.
She sent a note that we'd like to share.....
" I agree, today WAS awesome. I don't know if you and the other riders realize how much your presence meant
to the Marines AND their families. I've never seen families stick around like they did today; they all wanted to see those motorcycles take off with the buses.
It was very uplifting to see the large show of support from these motorcycle riders, especially since I didn't contact
them until Friday morning. I got to meet a few of the riders and they are all such a great bunch of people. They gave up their Sunday (some getting up VERY early!) just to escort the troops to their flight to Iraq. They are so
awesome! "

Here are some photos from Tami:

Thanks to all for their effort towards the Escort Ride for the Marines on 10 Sep 2006. It was special honor to be invited by Tami. I read Tami's note to Barb and Jim. Interesting how she made the comment about "giving up a Sunday for the escort". Well, I'd do it again in a heart-beat. I told a marine "thanks for your service, Sir" as steadfastly as I could. This marine replied......."no problem sir, it's what we do, it's what we're trained for and thanks for being here"........as he boarded the bus. This was a display of pride and valor that I won't forget. I'm forever grateful to be able to Honor, Respect and Support our Military. I will never forget. I shed a few tears that day......but came away stronger and more committed. I'm lucky to be in the PGR. I'm blessed to see these Marines do it and do it well.

I want to send out a huge thank you from the east coast to all the PGR members who turned out on short notice for this escort mission. My nephew, L Cpl Matthew Snyder was based out of 29 Palms before he was deployed to Iraq in February of this year. Three weeks after arriving there, Matt died when the HumVee he was riding an escort patrol on rolled over. At his funeral, 86 PGR members from 7 different states showed Matt the most moving display of patriotism and respect that I have ever seen. Shortly after that I joined the PGR to pay forward that same sense of honor and respect. I have no doubt that Matt was looking down and smiling on his fellow Marines and the PGR members who turned out for this send off on Sunday. Reading the comments on this mission thread make me proud to be a member of this organization. Keep up the good work.
