To the family of CPL Shanks may God be with you all and may you find comfort in your memories. Thank you Jeremy giving the ultimate sacrifice to become a true American Heroe. To our brothers and sisters still fighting in Iraq and Afganistan-may God protect you and keep you safe until your missions are done and you can come home to us.

'No Greater Love is this that a man is willing to lay down his life for another.' Only two men were willing to sacrifice their lives for us-Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. Neither of which can ever fully be repaid.
Thank you for your Service and my Freedoms. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. I am grateful to live in a country made up of volunteers like you. Your choice to protect our Nation and put your self on the line can never be repaid.

Standing by in Beech Bluff TN 167 miles south south east. I can not imagine losing a child. I wish there were some way for me to wrap my arms around the family and squeeze the pain out from them and let it take root in me.
I have not read the entire string, but will to locate any confirmed times. Sunday may very well work for me. I am deeply moved by this one, all efforts will be made to makemy first mission across state lines.
Jeremy's family and friends, we shall be there all of us in person or in spirit 53,000 strong to support you. I am speechless at the loss of one so young, but I know THIS: Jeremy was a soldier. He felt fear and moved forward. He felt lonely, so far from home but yet comforted by the closeness of his Army unit. He knew there was a chance, and yet he went. His reasons for joining I can not know. His actions and their result will one day help some small child play out side with out worry. Freedom for others , fighting opression, that's why we are there, that's why Jeremy and his friends are there. What chance does that small child have of a fear free life with out his heros like Jeremy?
Jeremy, the folks you were helping really do love you, are saddened by your loss. We'll never forget but more importantly niether will the small child who will one day very soon walk out side and not hear weapons and explosions.
He may never know you're name, but he'll know who you were just the same, American.

Cpl. Shank-- God now has another soldier in His Eternal Guard. Rest in His arms. Your devotion to your Nation and Family will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. You are among the finest this world has to offer. As you stand guard for our country and your family on the field of Honor, know that my saying I deeply appreciate your service cannot transmit the feelings I have. " Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for another." To the Shank family-- I cannot share the depth of grief you are experiencing but please know that many beyond your family circle share your love for your fallen Hero. God Bless all of you.

Just recieved word that Cpl. Jeremy Shank will be transported 'for sure' tomorrow - they just don't know when or to where (Cape or STL). I think I'll hold off posting a final itinerary until we are notified of the specific flight arrangements. The Saturday viewing/Sunday funeral will most certainly happen as we've posted at the beginning of this string. Begin your planning.
For those interest in escorting Cpl. Shank home tomorrow, all I can say is to stand by. I will update the moment I hear. |

| We now have a confirmed transport schedule from Dover.
ESCORT FROM ST. LOUIS: Thursday 9/14 - Cpl. Jeremy Shank will arrive at 1610 (4:10 PM) at the American Airlines Cargo Facility (Dock 1). We will have an escorted procession leaving McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson at 1:15 PM.
THE ITINERARY IS NOW SET:
The viewing will be at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson (address below) from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday. The family welcomes anyone who may want to attend the viewing. Anyone wishing to stand vigil may do so.
The funeral will be at the 1st Baptist Church in Jackson (address below) at 2:30 PM on Sunday.
A guess would be 4:00-ish, the funeral procession will continue on to Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
STAGING: We will stage at the new VFW Hall on N. Kingshighway in Cape - tentatively from 10:00 to 11:30 AM with kickstands up at 11:30 to the funeral home to escort Cpl. Shank to the church by 12:30.
Everything is pretty close in. We plan to be escorted the 4-5 miles from the VFW to McCombs. We'll double back a couple miles to the church, and double back again the couple miles to the cemetery. With a large procession, we could be entering the cemetery with not everyone out of the church yet. The cemetery is a nice paved grid and although the entrance is tight we should be able to get parked OK. We will discuss this at the staging briefing.
The family and community has embraced our presence completely. We will do them proud.
Here are the addresses I promised. Stay tuned for maps and directions from around the compass.

AIRPORT ESCORT RIDE - Thursday 9/14 - Kickstands up at 1:15 PM from McComb Funeral Home, 640 W Independence in Jackson. We will be escorted and will head north out of Jackson on US 61 to I55 at the Fruitland/Jackson exit 105. If people want to wait there for us and latch on as we come by at around 1:30 that'd be fine. Just got reminded to schedule a gas stop for the bikes for the round trip. Cpl. Jeremy Shanks casket is schedule to arrive in St. Louis at 4:10 PM - American Air Cargo Dock 1.

AIRPORT ESCORT - ST. LOUIS END - Thursday 4:10 PM - Need some local knowledge if available. I've been told there is a Shell station on Natural Bridge on the east side of the airport. In fact, I may have fueled up a rental car there once. From that Shell station its a straight shot over 70 into the Air Cargo Road entrance. We'll need to top off our tanks and might be able to pull in there (need to check with LEO escorts) I'm kinda pulling this out of my butt. All assistance welcome. We should be in the vicinity of Air Cargo Road by 3:45. You can always tell them who your with and why your there and get in on your own - I think.

Yes. Shell Station at Brown Rd. Then north on Brown Rd. cross over I 70 then immediately left on Air Cargo. I top off fuel at the shell. You will see where to gather just past door 1, should have no problems getting to that staging point.

| For all Missouri and Illinois Patriot Guard Riders, if anyone is interested in doing a group ride down to Jackson on Sunday I thought we could meet at Gateway to the West Harley Davidson at 8:30 and kickstands up 8:45 with full tank ready to ride. I also think it would be a good idea to bring rain gear. The street address is 3600 Lemay Ferry Rd. I am not sure if there is anything else going on that day so my suggestion is if you show up look for a PGR banner I know I will have mine on the windshield of my bike 05 blackcherry Ultra Classic. If you have any questions my cell number is 314-540 3612. If you are interested sound off or call me I wouldn't want to leave anyone that may want to join us. Thanks |

My deepest sympathies to the family of Cpl. Jeremy Shank, and unspeakable gratitude for the sacrifice which has been made for our country. May God bless you with comfort at this time of mourning and bring you peace with the knowledge that Jeremy is at rest and a country mourns with you.
With deep regrets I will be unable to participate in the airport escort tomorrow due to work requirements. I might be able to make it to the services on Sunday, but that will depend on the state of family health issues at home.
Tentatively, those traveling from or through the St. Louis area can stage again at the South County Mall (Westfield South County), at the south end of the lot, east of Buffalo Wild Wings. Plan to meet at 8:00 and leave for Cape Girardeau at 9:00. The mall is located at I-255/I-270 and I-55, north of I-255, east of I-55, south of Lindbergh and west of Lemay Ferry.

A note from the Riley's (Yeller Wing) who have been running around town getting this together:
Roger has obtained at least 200 bottles of water that we will have in coolers on our truck for the Shank mission, courtesy of American Legion Post #63, Cape Girardeau in conjunction with Schnucks grocery. He has gotten "reduced" rates at the following two motels for sure for those coming in from out of town - Super 8 - 2100 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau 573-339-0808 $62.95 - be sure to let them know you are with the PGR coming to town for Cpl Shank's funeral. (this motel is closest to the VFW staging area) This motel is also located next to Ford's Custom Motorcycle in case of breakdowns or any motorcycle needs and World of Honda is down the street, again in case of motorcycle needs. Victorian Inn & Suites, 3265 William St., (I-55 & Rt. K) 1 800 331 0445 $69 - be sure to let them know you are with the PGR coming to town for Cpl. Shanks funeral. While the managers say these are reduced rates out of towners may be able to do better by asking for a Military discount and being able to show their Military ID. The Jackson Inn, 517 E Hwy 61 Blvd, Jackson MO 573-243-3577 has indicated they would work with us |

| Dragon wagon, I guess since Monty is the State ride captain we will forget my post and follow his lead and meet at the south county mall that way there is no confusion and we don't miss any riders that may want to ride down to Jackson in a group. Any questions you can still call me at 314-540-3612. Hope to see everyone on Sunday and hope the two different rally points didn't mess anyone up. Out in Saint Charles |

Due to a prior commitment, I will be unable to attendon sunday. Do you know what time you will be rolling through south county area on the way up to the airport today for the procession from the airport? I possibly can make it for part of the ride today.
I regret that I cannot help honor this young man on Suday as he deserve. I will be there in spirit.

Sorry for the confusion. I had written my post before equipman posted, but pressed submit after he did. I wasn't trying to step on any earlier plans.
Equipman, careful about throwing "State" before my RC title. I certainly don't want to take on the appearance of more authority (responsibility, blame, punishment...) than I deserve.

Cpl. Shank’s ETA a Lambert is Thursday 4:10 PM. Based on the two previous airport escorts we could leave around 5:00 keeping in mind this is just a guesstimate. Traffic will be bad and they may want to limit the size of the escort through downtown. Especially with airport escorts, prepare to be very flexible. On the return trip, joining in farther south, (on the fly mind you) around Festus, might be good. It’s a long trip so don’t rush, join in slowly.
