The DoD release came out this evening, Services were already held.  Please take a moment to post a condolence on the thread. 

The obituary was posted in the Virginia pilot, Sunday, 03 Sep.   It’s unfortunate nobody caught it.

Let's make it a point to post our condolences, I'm sure it will be seen by the family.

The DoD notification system can be slow at times. Maybe because of the holiday weekend? who knows.

I read the obituary, what is the protocol if we don't see a thread. Sometimes the families do not want the PGR assist so how do we know?

The best thing to do is bring it to the RC and SC's attention.. We can take action from there. If it's determined it's family only then it will be posted. The important thing is to make sure we have it posted on out watch list so the family can see our support with condolences. That's just as important as the actual mission.

Todays paper (PILOT) stated that the news of Cpl. Squires death was not released for (I think it said) 10 days after his death. If this is true, and the announcement went out on time we would have not missed our calling. This could have been an error on the military's part or by the request of the family. Regardless; our thoughts and prayers go out to the Squires family.
