Peace and Grace to the family. It was an honor for me to stand with the PGR today and pay respect to a man that fought for life till the end. The comments from friends and family on the funeral home site show he meaningfully touched the lives of others. My father was laid to rest just steps away and I know that I will forever think of Barney "Shane" Goodman when I pay respects to my Dad. May God comfort you.

JohnJames47, would you mind if I used that picture on a tribute page on my website for Mr. Goodman? I'll be sure and give proper credits, as well. Thanks in advance.

We had 48 bikes and two support vehicles at the services for Shane Goodman. R.I.P peace sir and comfort to your family during this time of sorry. The authorities have the two sum bags in jail who killed Mr. Goodman. I’m sure Shane received the welcome home from our Lord that he and all our Vietnam veterans did not receive when they came home to our country. Next time you see a Vietnam Veteran tell him Welcome Home, Good Job and Thank You for your service! Don’t wait till it is too late to do so.

From the Baytown Sun:
"Goodman, 57, had served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam, where he was wounded in the face by shrapnel.

Later, he became a country-and-western singer of some local renown, according to his brother, Richard Ford. Goodman, who used the stage name “Barney Shane,” had been an opening act for George Jones, according to Ford.

Goodman was buried with military honors Thursday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Baytown."

I would like to thank SE Texas Ride Captain Rich “Boomer” Ford for doing an outstanding job (as always!) as the lead RC for this mission. Thanks to Texas Ride Captain Mac McKinney for being there and keeping us safe and legal going to the grave site. Thanks to Gary and Gayle Fisher and Termite Watkins, our support vehicles that brought ice cold water that was a lifesaver. Termite, it is an honor to have a true American Hero standing with us and I look forward to working with you on the PGR fund raiser.

Last, but most importantly, thank you to all our riders who made this mission. You make it know that our veterans are appreciated. With out you there is no PGR.

I was honored to ride with you all. It was great to meet with some of you that I hadn't met at the meet and greet. We looked good, had lots of flags. I am going to order another of the flag that I had, so that I will have one ready at all times, and I am working on how to mount the flag better on my Intruder! Sorry I couldn't stop for a cold drink, but had to get ready to go to San Antonio, which I just got back from. No one there from my Uncle's unit, but I did get a good contact so I can continue in my search. Until next time, keep the tire side down.
